Re: Best way to handle a composite manual?

Thanks Tim, yes I think the tasks and setting of variable there should basically solve our problems; i think we will be able to reduce to a single main TOC and do everything through the build tags and variables. I can see why different tocs may be useful if we were wanting to structure/order the con...

Best way to handle a composite manual?

We have a set of manuals for our software product, loosely defines as Tutorials, Application Notes, and Reference Guide. All in the one hxmp file, using different tables of contents therein. We also publish the "mother-of-all-manuals" which contains all 3, and we publish to multiple target...

Re: CHM help runs OK from explorer, freezes when opening subwindows when launched from delphi

From a session this morning, I'm pretty sure its not a hidden window but an infinite loop somewhere in the windows help viewer. If I run the chm from command line (so its working correctly), and I try to interact with the main help window when the subwindow is up, it ignores me but nothing more than...

Re: CHM help runs OK from explorer, freezes when opening subwindows when launched from delphi

Hi Alexander, I did use both 0 and the handle of the main window as args in the htmlhelp call; same result. It works as expected in my trivial application (just a help button); so now trying to establish some difference in calling between my real and trivial apps. both are x64, both support themes a...

OK, in my minimal Delphi application; its working fine (calling same help file even). Grrr. I will try stepping through to see what the difference is.

Re: CHM help runs OK from explorer, freezes when opening subwindows when launched from delphi

Thanks Tim and Alexander. Still freezing I'm afraid :( @Tim: Its definitely running a local helpfile, in the same folder as the host application. @Alexander: I modified one of my help calls to launch help directly as you suggested when a particular help button was clicked, however I see the same beh...

CHM help runs OK from explorer, freezes when opening subwindows when launched from delphi

Hi I'm generating a large help file (about 80MB) as CHM. It generally runs well but it seems when lauched from delphi it is unable to open any new windows; for example if the user goes to the keywords and double clicks a keyword with multiple links, it freezes. If I launch the chm file from windows ...

Set Topic status: bug scrambling content

v8.0.0 build 5443 (I can and have just reproduced this behaviour) I had a small hierarchy of topics I had just copied and pasted from another project. I was preparing to clean them up, replace images etc, and in preparation I expended all the branches, selected the range, and right-click set topic s...

Using TOC name as a variable?

(Yes, 8 is looking good!) I would like to reference the table of contents I am publishing from. In fact I'd like to nest it, so that I set my <%TITLE%> to <%TOC_NAME%>, if there was such a thing. My use case: I have after importing from another help system a tonne of topics in one project for multip...

Re: CHM file size enourmously increased

Thanks Tim. I am referencing a reduced TOC in the slave (the one being referenced, containing all the content and multiple TOCs) from the main (and only) TOC in the master (the one doing the referencing, where I set the Title). I will try moving it to a different folder so it cant see the topics sub...

Re: chm Search tab finds results, but can't jump to them

Thanks Martin, that wasn't working either.

The problem was that the CHM I was viewing was on a mapped metwork drive. search jumps don't work if that's the case apparently, a copy of the chm file on my local disk works fine!!!!

Thanks,
Chris

chm Search tab finds results, but can't jump to them

I've generated a large manual into a chm file. All looks well, I can search for content, it produces a valid list of results in thge left pane to topics that I can access via the Contents, but there is no way to jump to the searched result? I click on it, double click, right pane remains blank? Than...

Re: CHM file size enourmously increased revisited

Hi I am having a similar iisue with chm file size, but its related to a modular help project. I have a large project with multiple TOCs including one called "application Notes" If I publish that the chm is about 10MB. Fair enough. I then created a separate "master" project, with ...
