Re: CHM skin -- HMToggleExpandAll --> change to button

Hi John, Basically you can do this, but there may be a couple of tricky points. You would need to replace the <%SHOW_HIDDEN%> variable with an img tag ( ) and add the image file for the icon to the Baggage of the skin. <img src="iconname.png" alt="alt text here" width="xx" height="yy" border="0" tit...

Re: Font colors in Skins

Hi Raimund, The problem here is that you can only have one set of project styles for screen-based help. Help+Manual does allow you to have two sets of definitions for each style, but only for two groups of output formats: Screen formats (CHM, WebHelp, eWriter) and print-based formats (PDF, DOCX, ePu...

Re: Copy/Paste from other apps such as Visual Studio - losing formatting

I often need to copy extracts of code from Visual Studio in to H&M - keeping the formatting / colouring etc, and in the past this used to work okay, but lately for some reason it is not working and whatever I do it just pastes it as plain text. You're not seeing formatted text when copying from Vis...

Re: Contento paid

Hi Javier, Basically you are referring to access control -- you want to restrict access to a specific group of users, in this case users who have paid. There is no facility in WebHelp itself to do this because it is something the needs to be done on your web server, not in the content of your WebHel...

Re: Working links in PDF and CHM

Hi Svetlana, If I understand you correctly, you want to have one hyperlink in "First Topic" appear in the PDF version and the other hyperlink in the same topic appear in the CHM version. To achieve this you need to "tag" the links with the Conditional Text tool in Write > Insert Object (the pink [IF...

Re: eWiewer <Ctrl>+<0>

Hi Horst,

Note that CTRL+0 with the regular number keys actually already works. The 0 from the number pad has a different scan code. 8)

That would be practical. Thanks for posting.

I am using the Word output (not the PDF output).
The orientation change is currently only for PDF, not for Word. :?

Re: Problem with Arabic PDF output

Hi Noha, Help+Manual 8 outputs Arabic as glyphs (little graphics instead of text). The text is not searchable or selectable, and the files are very large, but it looks OK. You can test this with the free trial version that you can download here: https://www.helpandmanual.com/downloads.html It will r...

Re: Export Style Names behavior with WebHelp Output

Hi Julio, This works in CHM because the CHM viewer uses IE, which is very forgiving about characters like this used in HTML. In other browsers they will cause errors. I checked with our developers and they say that if you are using characters like this in your style names in WebHelp you must either ...

Re: Batch publish - override output path in a task

Is it possible to override the output path specified in the task when executing via batch file? No, tasks are always executed as a full block when you call them from the command line. If you want granular control like that you need to put everything in the batch file. Or just create another action ...

Re: Dropping in file links

Any pointers on setting the file location? This is a little confusing when making the link. The point here is that when creating file links you are not creating a link now, but planning a link for the future. Where the link needs to point depends entirely on where the file is going to be located in...

Re: Dropping in file links

Hi Gareth,

I just tried it out and you're right -- that's a limitation I wasn't aware of. I'm sure it's an easy fix and I'm passing it on to our developers for the ToDo list. 8)
