Re: Footnotes in H+M

I guess there is no possibility to insert a footnote in Help+Manual? At least I haven't found anything in the SW nor help. Footnotes are not supported directly because there is no equivalent for them in any of the electronic formats supported. They would only be relevant in PDF, printed manuals and...

Re: Possibility to user variables or conditions in the help title?

Hi Leena, Is there any way in H+M to use variables or conditions in the help title to be able to publish a document for certain audiences from the same reusable content at one go? I would appreciate for any tips here You can't use conditions in the Word template but you can get around this by using ...

Hi Gareth,

This is coming in the next maintenance update. If you want to try it out you can install the current beta:

Thanks for the info. Pity I couldn't get my hands on my boss today!
Just contact us at support when you reach your boss and we can arrange something. We're quite unbureaucratic about these things... 8)

Re: PDF Output Issue

I've tried that and it doesn't adjust anything. Yes, it does. It will not resize the window around the image but it will resize the canvas (background of the image). If you then re-save you will not have the white area around the image because the canvas and the image will be the same size. impict_...

Re: PDF Output Issue

Hi Ben, The picture has resized but a white area is left where the original sized image was. So the original image size is 1085x2902, I reduce its size by 92% via the method you kindly spoke of. You just skipped an important step in the instructions: Back in the main editor, select the Resize Canvas...

Re: PDF Output Issue

Hi Ben, Yes, modern phone photos can be huge. If you're using a current Samsung Note 10 or a top-range Xiaomi you can actually have 108 megapixel images, for example, which is over four times the resolution of many top-of-the line digital SLRs. If you're going to be resizing the images you need to u...

Re: Dead links in PDF...

Hi Laini, If the links are working in WebHelp and not in PDF and the topics are included in both builds the most likely cause is that the topics don't have TOC entries. In WebHelp every topic is a separate document and they can all be displayed with hyperlinks, even if they are not in the TOC. A PDF...

Re: Command Line call randomly hangs

Any other ideas? Use a CMD or BAT directly and not PowerShell. Do it at least once manually to see whether you can export without problems when you do that, or whether there is an issue in the actual commands you are executing. It's also conceivable that some resources you are accessing during the ...

Re: PDF Output Issue

Hi Ben, This is unusual. Are you using the current build, which is 8.2.1 Build 5670? You can check this with Help > About and download the current installer here: https://www.helpandmanual.com/downloads.html?upd Indeed the images are taken on a phone and dropped straight into the project. When you s...

Re: PDF Output Issue

Hi Ben, PDF uses a lot of memory while it's being generated because multiple uncompressed versions of the output must be juggled to create the final product. You can check what's happening on your computer and where the bottleneck is by starting Task Manager with a right-click on the Windows taskbar...

Re: Sort shortcut keys so they work as expected

Hi Darren, From the developers: HM7 still hat the Exit command but it was removed in HM8 to make the file menu less cluttered. Close is actually a different command (closes the project/s). We're going to check through all the default projects, but it's important to know that they are also language-d...

Hi Dave,

I doubt whether it hurts but for efficiency's sake you should probably delete them anyway -- just as a matter of principle and good practice. 8)

Re: Page not included in TOC appears in CHM search index

Hi Martin, This isn't a bug. What is happening is that something is forcing the inclusion of that topic without a TOC entry, which is both perfectly possible and sometimes desirable -- for example for topics that you only want to show in response to a hyperlink. Here are the possible causes: You exc...
