Re: Misplaced Image in eWriter

Tim, Thanks for the detailed explanation, that makes sense now. This is older documentation that I am maintaining so for sure pieces were used in ways they shouldn't have been back when we first started. And the first time I've had to upgrade H&M docs this old into eWriter. I was able to get the...

Re: Misplaced Image in eWriter

Tim, The correct location should have been aligned next to the text in the header the way it looks in H&M editor. HMExplain2.png Some of the info boxes moved the gif image to the top of the box (the lightbulb), and some pages, with the star, moved the icon to the upper left of the page. Once I r...

Misplaced Image in eWriter

I have gifs in my documentation that are not correctly placed when I create an ewriter file. Sometimes they are shifter left and up, and sometimes sll I can see is a bit of the image in the upper left of the page and it is nowhere near where it should be on the page. They are correct for other forma...

Re: eWriter Menu in Caption - How to Remove it

Tim, Great news about the variables. I had played with most of your suggestions before posting so good to know I wasn't missing anything obvious. The menu with the single button entry/title makes the most sense for us, and once the variables are in place I can finish migrating to the latest version ...

Re: eWriter Menu in Caption - How to Remove it

Tim, Thanks for the suggestions. I was only able to get it to not have the open menu when I renamed eViewer.exe to a custom name. This, however, still leaves the orange [eViewer] block in the caption bar. I would prefer to not have it at all. Especially since if I don't have a menu, it's just in the...

eWriter Menu in Caption - How to Remove it

I've started to upgrade to the latest H&M and the new eWriter v3 and I want to remove the new menu in the caption bar. The option in my project is to not include an application menu but I still see one in my eWriter file with the updated H&M. I understand I can modify the menu item but I don...

Chrome/Lighthouse Performance Testing

Hello, We've been working at improving the responsiveness of our userguide pages on our website and running Chrome's Lighthouse to evaluate. It has reported some things that it says would improve them, such as using next get image formats (WebP, AVIF) and having an explicit width and height on the i...

Re: Sizing of WebHelp YouTube Videos

Martin,

Thanks for the information, will definitely test it out. I was sort of on the right track with putting the html code in manually, I just tried the Embed tab on the Media object; completely forgot about the embedded HTML.

Re: Sizing of WebHelp YouTube Videos

TIm, Unfortunately the powers that be do not want the lightbox; I may have to go with the percentage for now. Is there anyway to customize the CSS or styles for this, override it somehow? I looked the the embed tab but that didn't seem to have anything to do with styling, just the iframe hosting the...

Sizing of WebHelp YouTube Videos

Hi, I'm trying to make our webhelp to be more responsive and have some questions about the YouTube Media link. Is there any way to have a media link set to size as 100% of the page size but only up to a maximum size, like the % of page width, maximum is physical size option for screenshots? Right no...

Re: PDF Links Do Not Open In New Tab in Browser

Tim, Are you viewing the PDF in a web browser? Opening in a new tab probably won't work there, but it will in a proper PDF reader like Adobe Reader or Acrobat. Yes, it's when viewing the PDF in Google or Edge that we see this. We're using all the formats - eWriter in the apps themself, PDF and HTML ...

Re: PDF Links Do Not Open In New Tab in Browser

Tim,

I tried the new beta and have the same behaviour.

I tested both a link to an external web page, as well as a image link to a YouTube video; both again opened the link in the same tab, replacing the loaded PDF file.

Great, thanks Tim. I'll try it out. What is the timeline for 8.22 release?

PDF Links Do Not Open In New Tab in Browser

Hey, I have an issue where if I'm viewing a PDF file in the Edge or Chrome PDF viewer, my external links (other web pages, image links to YouTube videos) do not open in a new tab, but rather replace the open PDF in the current tab. I've double checked and I've correctly set my external links to open...
