Re: Integrating H&M (Webhelp) with madcap Flare?

Do you think it possible to create a sort-of "Frankenstein" site with both Flare and HelpAndManual delivering the content? We did that with Dreamweaver and Help&Manual. We keep the Dreamweaver files within a different folder than the content generated by Help and Manual. Then we added ...

Re: More Website-like Webhelp

Ugh. Why hadn't I read this earlier. We got caught up in the "cool" look of Flare, but I'm already regretting it. It is not nearly as user friendly as HelpAndManual. In some ways it's like take a step back into DreamWeaver. They have limited help/additional features for CHM. I can't even g...

<F1> Key Programming

Hi Tim, I was looking through H&M's help, and I noticed when I am in certain screens in H&M and press <F1>, help for that screen pops up (I was looking at the Configuration > Publishing Options > Webhelp > Navigation screen). I've documented extensively a problem we have with our <F1> functi...

Julio, where do you put that special tag, in the header? Maybe right here:

"Was this useful?"

Hi, We've had a programmer ask if we could implement some type of "Was this information useful?" box at the end of each help topic, along with a field that allows the user to quickly send a message about what could be improved. Does Help&Manual support that? I'm guessing we could write...

Re: Keeping up with WordPress and the newer Help Tools

I like this idea, Subash. The only thing the WordPress doesn't do a good job of, though, is being able to compile all those links into a PDF. My concern is that we'll have customers still begging for a PDF. Is PDF dead in the water? Do you sometimes need a PDF or Word version of your help to give to...

Re: Need Information for Accessing Help for Web Apps

I know you are extremely busy, but my web guys were wondering about JSON. (I really don't know what I'm doing, so excuse me if this is all wrong.) I found this article that talks about using JSON to implement web help: http://idratherbewriting.com/2015/02/01/creating-context-sensitive-help-by-conver...

Re: Need Information for Accessing Help for Web Apps

This is great information, Tim! I am having a hard time imagining this in my mind. Do you know, or does anyone else on this site know, what this would look like in practice? Do you mind if I try to summarize what it is I should do, and you let me know if I have this right? 1. I want to have embedded...

Need Information for Accessing Help for Web Apps

We're in the early planning stages of moving our application to the Web. Previously, we offered our customers two forms of help: web-based help and CHM help that they could see when they pressed <F1> from the PC application. The <F1> helped is tied directly to field-level help topics in CHM. Now tha...

Re: One more time with links to other chms

Thanks so much! It totally worked! I had number 1 and 3 wrong. I had created a pop-up instead of default, and it was set to .asp instead of .htm.

Re: One more time with links to other chms

In case others go searching for this error, I'm going to put it in this text so it may pop up: //ieframe.dll/dnserrordiagoff.htm#

One more time with links to other chms

Hi Tim, I'm sorry I have to ask this question again. But I'm having trouble linking a chm to another chm for one of my user-defined jumps in HTML configuration. I want the link to open its own help window, not the help window of the previous window. Here's what I've done so far: 1. I create a pop-up...
