Re: User-Defined Jump

Another thought...we build our files to the web as asp file (with a .asp extension). Would that have an affect?

Re: User-Defined Jump

I tried as you suggested and it worked when dealing with other websites (such as Help&Manual or Google), but it didn't work when I tried to use our site, which is behind a secure server. So it wouldn't work when I changed it to an "https" or an "http" address. So maybe we'll ...

User-Defined Jump

I'm having trouble creating a link out to a website for one of the User-defined jumps in the HTML configuration. For this example, I used googled, as shown below: mnendictjump2.png But when I test it and publish the CHM file to my desktop, then click that User-Defined link (in this case it's called ...

Re: Convert ASP files into HelpAndManual

Nevermind. I found a work around. I copied all the asp files into a new folder on my desktop, and then I manually changed the extension on each one from "file.asp" to "file.html". Then I had Help&Manual convert the files in that folder. It's not perfect, but at least I don't ...

Convert ASP files into HelpAndManual

I need to convert some asp files into Help&Manual. It looks like the only option H&M has for that is to convert regular HTML and text files, not asp files. Is there anything in the works to fix that? I'll google a work around until I hear back from you.

Re: PDF link to open new window

Duh. I know this. I guess I was hoping for something else. We publish our manuals to a testing server before moving them to a live site. Since the link goes out to the live site and not the testing server, I sometimes want to check my work to make sure I am doing it right. But since it's linking to ...

PDF link to open new window

I was wondering how I might link the PDFs to open the PDFs in a new window. Currently, when our users click the link, the PDF opens within the same window. (See Figure A below.) I want it to open in a new browser window by itself (a "_blank" link). Figure B below shows how I currently have...

Re: Non-searchable in Google; custom server-side code

Nevermind. We figured it out. We had a weird piece of code in there. We placed this code at the top:

<%@ Page Language="VB" %>

Once I took it out, it all worked fine.

Re: Non-searchable in Google; custom server-side code

Note: It may help to understand our situation. We made the horrible decision to put all our documentation in Dreamweaver. We've been slowly trying to move all our content over to Help&Manual a manual at a time (loans, deposits, user's guides, etc.), but we have thousands of pages of content and ...

Re: Non-searchable in Google; custom server-side code

So I've been trying to publish with aspx, and it looks like it works until it gets out to our live site. And then we are thrown for a loop. What happens is that someone puts in their user name and log in, logs onto our documentation site. Then clicks a link in the navigation that takes them to one o...

Re: Broken Links in Webhelp?

We have a work around for that problem. All our files are built with H&M and then we use Dreamweaver to check in our files from our personal computers to a remote server. The reason we do this is because we started out with Dreamweaver and have been slowly but surely migrating over to H&M-ge...

Re: Hotspot doesn't work with 7

Thanks, Tim. I will email you because I can't remember where we put those files. And I will also purchase the new skins once you get that blinking feature back in... :D With Trump a hope for our new president, we may all have billions to throw around. :vconfused: (Totally inappropriate political jok...

Re: Hotspot doesn't work with 7

We are using the skins from Premium Pack 2.15 / CHM Skins (the date mark is 11/21/2012), but then we do a little tweaking with the logo, colors, etc. So I'm a little concerned that we will have to do this anytime a new premium pack comes out or a new version of Help&Manual?

Re: Hotspot doesn't work with 7

Thanks for this. I work in a team of 6. (Valene, who commented above, is on my team. Hi, Valene!) Do we all need to purchase the skin copy for all of us? I know it's quite easy to save them to a place on our network, and I don't want to cheat you out of your money. So just give it to me straight: sh...
