Azure/GitHub Repo as Passive Source Control
Hello, We're using the new H&M8 and want to keep our documentation in source control. We are using Azure DevOps with Github for our source code, and want to use the same, passively, for the documentation. At most we have two people working on the docs, and usually not at the same time. The curre...

Re: eWriter Help Slow to Jump to Topic
Thanks Tim, the older V3 skin is definitely faster on the initial and subsequent loads. The main eViewer screen area still blanks out and is redrawn each time I call the eViewer with a new topic - is this normal for eViewer? I tried it with eViewer.exe and my eWriter book separate as well as bundled...

eWriter Help Slow to Jump to Topic
I'm looking at integrating my application help as eWriter instead of CHM, which is what I've used in the past. I'm testing with the default new project and its generated dummy topics, so only about 5-6 topics with little to no text. I created my eWriter with one of the PPV4 eWriter skins. I have not...

Re: Strange Color Issue with 32bpp PNG and PDF Output
Alex and Tim, Thanks for the response. I will get you a sample project to your support e-mail today. Alex, in my testing I found the same results with the original PNG 32bpp PNG file as well as other 32bpp PNG files I have recently created. The first image was created by exporting from icon creation...

Strange Color Issue with 32bpp PNG and PDF Output
Hello, I have stumbled onto a strange issue with H&M and the PDF files created. The software we create is file/image conversion software so the PDF files I create as part of the software documentation often get used in-house for testing. It was during this testing that strange colour issues was ...

Re: Help with Images in Output PDF
Simon,
Thanks for the excellent tips. I will try them and let you know how it goes.
Just one question - what is flowed text? Is that when I use enter to break a line in the text object? Do I need to enter each line separately?
Thanks again,
Sheri

Re: Help with Images in Output PDF
Hello, After Martin's comment, I went back and tried SVG again. Right now the only tool I have to create it is Inkscape (forgot to mention that I had tried this tool as well). I was able to of course, save as the Inkscape SVG format, as well as a plain and a optimized svg file. The svg file consists...

Re: Help with Images in Output PDF
Simon, Thanks for the tip on SVG. I was pretty sure my main issues with the SVG were the tools I had access to when creating them. I don't have Illustrator. I tried XARA, which we own but it has known issues with bitmap scaling inside it's exported SVG from what I read on their forums. I also tried ...

Re: Help with Images in Output PDF
Hello, I should also mention that my PDF layout is a landscape 2-column layout. The topic width in my column is 5.07" width - I think this is somewwhere else I have gone wrong with my images - I've designed them too wide. I've got a few large-ish things to try and display - some are is 720px - ...

Re: Help with Images in Output PDF
Martin and Tim, Thanks for the advice. I tried images with the anti-aliasing set to all 4 settings - the only ones that gave me halfway decent text in the final PDF were None and Extra Smooth. I will experiment with Martin's advice on overlaying the text as images in the IPP file. I know not to use ...

Help with Images in Output PDF
Hello, I'm creating a set of quick start guides as PDF in H&M and I'm having issues getting my screenshots/diagrams to be clear in the resulting PDF. My initial screenshots are taken using TNT2, saved as either 24-bit bmp or png in a rare case. I'm then building the actual screen shot using Impi...

Re: Applying Proportional Zoom on Images
Hello, As a side note, I also noticed that setting the proportional zoom and creating my CHM with CHM_PlainJane.hmskin from the previous Premium pack created a CHM where the images scaled down instead of staying at 100% with scroll bars when I sized the screen smaller. Is there a way to generate res...

Applying Proportional Zoom on Images
Hello, I've been playing with the proportional zoom for images and I like what I see in the generated content so far. I'm just wondering if there is any way to apply this setting to all of my images without having to go through ALL of my documentation and manually change the setting for each image? ...

Printing from Responsive Skins
Hello, Just updated to H&M 7 today and was playing with the responsive skins. We were previously using one of the premium skins, WebHelp_SlateGrey.hmskin with options for mail Feedback and Printing the topic. I have tested publishing our help using the skins 'HM7-Help-Webhelp-Responsive', 'Webhe...
