Saving shadow settings

Unread post by Martin Wynne »

Hi,

The Impict help says:
Shadow Tool controls

It's best to choose your shadow settings at the beginning
of a project and then not change them again.
But how do you set them? I can't find a Save Preferences or
similar function. The shadow tool is available only when an object
is selected. When I add drop shadow to an object it always comes
up with the default settings. If you want something different it is
a pain to have to change every one using the tiny sliders. (For which
I would much prefer an up-down number control.)

Sometimes you can copy, paste and edit from an existing object,
but you have to insert new ones occasionally!

Is this for the wish list or am I missing something (again!)?

Martin.

No, you're not missing anything, this is a small mistake in the help. I'm not quite sure what possessed me to write this -- perhaps wishful thinking -- but when I did I assumed that the shadow tool "remembered" its settings from one session to the next, which it doesn't actually do. :?

Hi Tim,

But it's worse than that - it doesn't even remember from one
object to the next within a session. Every time you add drop
shadow to a new object it resets to the defaults. Perhaps no one
ever uses anything else?

But thanks for confirming that it's not me being daft. :)

Martin.

Has anything changed on this issue? Unless I have lost my mind, it WAS remembering the shadow settings a week ago for me but now not, and for SURE it was remembering shape tool settings. Now, today, I seem to be having problems with both. The only thing I can correlate this with is installing TNT the other day, but I would be hard pressed to imagine that would cause it.

Now I know what it is. The Screen Capture routine in H&M4 remembers the drop shadow settings, but Impict does not. Odd. This goes to wish list for Impict. Actually, it's probably a bug, but I won't get technical :)
