Google webmaster tools reports 404 errors on webhelp

Unread post by TimeWriter »

Google webmaster tools reports a lot of 404 errors on webhelp pages.

According to google these pages do not exist, however they have been on the sever for a long time.

For example:

http://www.timewriter.nl/media/webhelp/ ... client.htm

Could this be related to Help & manual ?

regards,

Rinse

Hi Rinse,

This is a little strange since the link is definitely OK. Have you installed Google Analytics and included your GA code in the configuration of your project? This always significantly improves Googlebot's understanding of your site.

Also, are you getting this for all pages using the index.html?topic.htm syntax or just for some of them? If it is just for some of them it may have been simply server errors for some users with bad connections.

Rinse, this may help ....

Xenu finds no missing URLs in the 469 URLs linked with the URL in your post.

Xenu did report that the anchor #indexText was used more than once in
http://www.timewriter.nl/media/webhelp/ ... #indexText

And you may also want to amend "© 2012 Enter your company name" at the bottom of your TOC.
