A-Keywords in Topic Options

Unread post by Ed Hawco »

In the Topic Options pane there's a place to put keywords (I get that) but there's also a place for "A-Keywords."

What are "A-Keywords?" I can't find anything about that in the H&M manual.

Hi Ed,

A-Keywords are for use in A-Links, which are "associative" links that are only supported in the Microsoft CHM format. They allow you to do things like create automated "See Also" lists that automatically show links to all the topics containing the referenced A-Keyword. See this topic in the help for details:

http://helpandmanual.com/help/index.htm ... alinks.htm

Caveat: They are quite clunky to use and may be less useful than they sound initially. As always, your mileage may vary. It depends a lot on how disciplined you are in maintaining useful A-Keywords in your topics. 8)

Thanks Tim. Safe to ignore, I think, especially since I pretty much only do Webhelp.
