Windows 8.1 strange User Agent

Unread post by Martin Wynne »

Hi Tim,

A user attempting to access my Webhelp on a new Windows 8.1 laptop says he is seeing this:
________________

"Smartphones and Android tablets not supported.

Sorry, smartphone and Android tablet browsers cannot display this page correctly.
You can view the page in a desktop browser or with an Apple iPad using Mobile Safari."

I assume he is using IE (I'm waiting for an answer). Apart from the standard 2-word advice "use Firefox", what can I tell him? Is there a setting for changing the User Agent String somewhere in IE apart from the compatibility modes? Is it possible to emulate a smartphone? This page doesn't help much:

regards,

Martin.

Hi Martin,

This almost certainly just means that the skin you are using is out of date. The user agent checking has been updated so that this can't happen any more. Download the current 2.42 version of the PP skins and update, then the problem will go away. 8)
