Multi-user feature: Who changed what

Unread post by Christian Wagner »

Hi
is there any possibility in H&M6, when running the professional or server version and when using the multi-editing features, to make it *automatically* visible which co-author changed what (when...)?
We tested the uncompressed xml HMXP feature: not even the topic status color flags added by author 1 were displayed when author 2 opened the project.

If there is no such possibility:
Is there a feature like this planned?
Is there a workaround to control/monitor the contributions made by different authors (apart from checking/comparing the versions with SVN tortoise features, for example)?

Hi Christian,

No, this isn't currently possible. The name of the last user who edited a topic is always stored in that topic, but that is as far as it goes. You can't see who changed what -- that would require very complex tagging of every single item on the page with user names and timestamps. That is not going to be possible in the near future, definitely not in the current or next versions of Help & Manual.

If your project is stored in SubVersion (highly recommended for team authoring!) you can use the Tortoise SVN client's diffing features to see changes between current and previous versions on a very granular level:

http://tortoisesvn.net/docs/release/Tor ... -diff.html

However, this will show the changes in the entire XML source code, not just the "text". As far as I know, there is not any XML-based diffing program that can do that at the moment (but I would really like to hear about it if someone has found one...)
