Hi Darren,

I think that may be the latest Windows10 update. Several of my more complex CAD and video applications now show "not responding" when performing normal functions which previously simply showed the rotating roundel cursor for a while. They all come back normally when finished whatever they are doing.

For your own applications, it can be prevented by sprinkling a few extra Application.ProcessMessages; statements into the code.

cheers,

Martin.

I've discussed this with our developers and after reading through the discussion they feel that it may have something to do with specific projects. If you could send download links to support AT ec-software.com (replace the AT with @) so that we can perform tests on them directly that would be very helpful. 8)

I changed to HMXP and now it's a real joy :D .
But, I don't remember ever being given a choice as to what format to save my project under (mind you, this project was started with H&M version 1).

Update: We've been able to reproduce the issue. It's something that happens after a specific project size. We're looking into it.

There's always a choice when you save but the default has been changed to HMXP in Help+Manual 8. Tyranny of the default... 8)

The issue also happens on Windows 7.
I'll send a link to the HMXZ project as suggested.

No need to send a project now. We've already located the cause and are working on it. 8)

Hi Darren,
Any news on this fix?
It's still under intensive testing. It's a surprisingly complex issue and needs to be right in all situations. The fix should be available quite soon, however.

As mentioned, I changed to HMXP and now it's a real joy.
A million times faster than the HMXZ saving, even when it was running normally.

This is one of the many benefits of using the uncompressed HMXP format, which is now the default when you are creating new projects. Help+Manual doesn't need to load the entire project into memory on loading and when you save it only needs to check and save the topics that have actually been changed since the last save.
