Fitting a large image in a pdf

Unread post by Ga Bowen »

I cannot find a way to fit an image to a page of a pdf; the image always overlaps the bottom of the page.

Is there a way around this?

The image is also only 163 mm x 240 mm (1925 px x 2835 px) so it should easily fit the page. :?

  • Make sure that you don't have multiple paragraphs with the "Keep with next" attribute.
  • Always use "% of page width, maximum is physical width" setting for sizing.
  • Make sure that your reference printer driver is not set to a paper size that is smaller than the paper size defined in your PDF template (View > Program Options > PDF)
Even with all these settings you can still experience problems with images whose height is considerably larger than their width. HM can only adjust for the width of images. If your width setting makes the image taller than the page then it has to go somewhere... :?

Is there a problem with having a fit to page option?

That's more problematic than it looks at first glance, and would generally result in the image being the only thing on the page, which would almost always mean that the author would have to scale it down further in the project anyway. Providing functionality like this is on the Wish List but there are an awful lot of other things that have higher priority... 8)
