Icon disappears when editing a Toggle In Line Text
Hello,
I created a toggle as you can see in CreationTILT.png and the result in the editor was as the one you can see in the ResultofCreation , but when I edited the toggle all the information related to the icon disappears and the editing of that area is not allowed, as you can see in the EditionTILT , and as a result in the editor the icon disappears.
What should I do to solve this problem?
I´m using H&M Version 8.2.0 Build 5620.
Regards,
Lina

Hi Lina,
Your caption is just a : character. You need several words of text for the title of a dropdown text toggle.

Hello,
We used this toggle in version 6.
We have now upgraded to version 8, but we need to continue using it.
What do we need to do to continue using it?

Hello,
I created the same kind of toggle, but now with the text in the caption , the result was the following , however, when I edited the icon it disappeared anyway , so the problem should not be related to the caption.
Our goal is to continue using the toggle with : character in the caption, how can we solve the problem?

Hi Lina,
This is actually normal. Inline text toggles don't have icons, so any icon information you entered will be removed.

Re: Icon disappears when editing a Toggle In Line Text
We had a very small number of text toggles, added in an old version of H&M, which I had forgotten about until a colleague wondered why they had gone missing. For current releases of H&M (not sure when) we changed them to table toggles, with a single cell containing the old text, which looks much like they used to look and can have an icon.

Re: Icon disappears when editing a Toggle In Line Text
Hello,
I couldn't figure out why, but in our project, I can create the toggle inline text with icon , what I can't do is edit it and keep the icon.
However, I confirmed, what you say, in a new project, I cannot create a toggle inline text with icon.
We have 2738 of these toggles in our project.
We use them to identify that the information has a history and allow the user to decide by clicking on the icon whether or not they want to see it.
This feature is important to us, is there a way to maintain it?

Re: Icon disappears when editing a Toggle In Line Text
Hi Lina,
This was unintentionally enabled in Help+Manual 6, which was an error. This is why your icons are positioned incorrectly, because it was never an intended function. This error was corrected in Build 4050 of HM6 on 30 December, 2016. So your toggles must have been created with an earlier version than that. Our developers are looking into this issue to see what can be done here.

Re: Icon disappears when editing a Toggle In Line Text
Hi Lina,
It is correct that this did work in older versions of Help+Manual. Our changelog says that this was changed with build 4050 on Dec 30, 2016. The reason was, that inline toggles were never supposed to have an icon. I think we've implemented global icons for inline toggles in the then-new Webhelp skins.
But... technically icons with inline text toggles work. Both in HTML and PDF. Despite being rather unusual, there is not technical reason to completely disable them. As you found out, this restriction is in the toggle dialog only, existing inline text toggles still export with icon, if assigned.
We will roll back this change from 2016 and re-enable icons for inline text toggles. The toggle dialog will still default to "no icon" for new inline text toggles, but not remove existing icons already assigned.
The change is going to go live with the next 8.2.2 update.
You can download a beta build here (includes the change already):

Re: Icon disappears when editing a Toggle In Line Text
Hello,
Sorry for the delay in the response, but yesterday I didn't have time to install the version.
Today I installed it and the problem is solved. I can now edit text inline with an icon.
I am very grateful for being available to solve this problem for us.
Thank you very much,
Lina Castro
