Markdown as insertable builing block

Request to import markdown as importable building block, like you can do today with XML.

Perfect to include machine-generated parts.

Please elaborate what exactly you mean. Snippets read directly from Markdown files?

Yes, I mean snippets in the form of "other things".

Right now snippets are XML files with control of layout and appearance.

They could also be seen as "bearers of data", and be markdown: simplistic, easy to export from external sources, and allowing main document to define layout.

This line of thought can be extrapolated to various other forms of data. But for now, an option for markdown would be great.

That's a very interesting idea! In particular with Markdown, which blends beautifully with existing text because of the limited formatting options of the source format. We will consider this for one of the next updates!

Having this option really would add a great deal of flexibility to Help+Manual. It could be:
  • something like the "Insert HTML Code" function
  • a special kind of snippet
  • a special kind of topic
It would be best if Help+Manual could automatically pick up the most recent version of the Markdown file when publishing, providing an option for "external" authors - both human or other tools - to contribute content in a flexible and automated way :-)
