New forum style + big fonts style

Unread post by Tim Green »

Two new styles are now available for the forum, one that is graphically more pleasant to look at and one with large fonts for easier viewing.

New Forum Style: "Morpheus"

A new style called "Morpheus" is now available (click here for a screenshot), and now that a small bug it contained has been corrected I've made it the standard forum style. If you've been a member for a while you will only see this style before you log on because your profile will still be set to the old style chosen for you automatically when you created your account. If you like the appearance of Morpheus you can switch to it in your profile -- instructions are provided below.

By the way: I think it also might be a good idea to make the fonts in this style a couple of pixels larger. Please let me know if you agree and I'll do it. :typing:

Style with Big Fonts for Easier Viewing: "SubSilverBig"

In addition to the new standard style I've now produced my own edited version of the old forum style with much larger fonts called "SubSilverBig" (click here for a screenshot), and it works quite well. In addition to making the fonts larger I've also changed the standard font in the new style from Verdana to Arial, which is a little more legible for people with weak eyesight.

How to set a different style for your account:

To use one of the new styles click on the the Profile link in the forum header and scroll down to the Board Style: setting.

New graphical style name: Morpheus
Big fonts style name: SubSilverBig

In the drop-down list change subSilver to subSilverBig to choose the large fonts style or to Morpheus to choose the new graphical style. Then click on the Submit button at the bottom of the page. From now on you will see your new style automatically whenever you log in.

Posting Editing Box

I've also increased the width of the posting editing box and the size of the font used in it in all three styles -- the standard version was much too small, particularly on notebook computers with high-resolution screens.
