I created several folders under
Project Files | Topics
In the Table of Contents, is there any way to find out the folder a particular Topic is in?

Hi Mark,
The folders in your Topic Files section are for convenience and organization only have have no effect at all on the TOC or your output so you can't see what folder they are in there. You need to go down to the Project Files / Topic File sections to see that.

I would like this as a feature. We are just getting started and have a dozen folders and around 1000 files after importing. It would make it easier to make sure everything is in the right place.
Similarly, the ability to right-click on a topic in the TOC and select "Copy path to clipboard" would be very handy. Sometimes it is useful to open a topic in XMLSpy because of XMLSpy's Grid view. But the autogenerated file names don't make it easy to figure out which is the right file:

Code: Select all
Window_1_1.xml Window_1_4_2.xml Window_2_1.xml
Window_1_1_1.xml Window_1_4_3.xml Window_2_2.xml
Window_1_1_2.xml Window_1_4_4.xml Window_2_3.xml
Window_1_1_3.xml Window_1_4_5.xml Window_2_4.xml
Window_1_1_4.xml Window_1_4_6.xml Window_2_4_1.xml
Window_1_2.xml Window_1_5.xml Window_2_5.xml
Window_1_3.xml Window_1_6.xml Window_2_6.xml
Window_1_4.xml Window_1_7.xml
Window_1_4_1.xml Window_1_8.xml
Thanks.

Hi Mark,
I can see the need here. I suggest that you post this to the Wish List section for HM5, although I can't promise how quickly something like this might be implemented at the moment.

I found a way to (almost) do this. It might be faster than Right-click, copy path to clipboard, click the Open icon in XMLSpy, paste the path, Open.Mark Jerde wrote:.. the ability to right-click on a topic in the TOC and select "Copy path to clipboard" would be very handy. Sometimes it is useful to open a topic in XMLSpy because of XMLSpy's Grid view.
- Configure PowerGREP to use XMLSpy as the default editor for *.xml
(Preferences | Editor "Command line" for this computer
["C:\Program Files (x86)\Altova\XMLSpy2006\XMLSpy.exe" "%FILE%"] )
- Have a copy of PowerGREP open to search the Topics folder tree.
Then, in H&M, for each topic you want to open in XMLSpy
- Select the topic in the TOC
- Copy the Topic ID from the Topic Options page
- Paste the Topic ID in PowerGREP's Include files box and search on file name only
- Double-click the xml file on PowerGREP's Results panel.
The only thing I can think of that would work faster is if "Drag from TOC, drop in other program" provided the path. That would be nice!
