Re: User feedback

Hi Ga, In the Premium Pack 2 skins we integrated commenting support for WebHelp via two different providers (Disqus and IntenseDebate). Quite a few customers tried it out and almost all of them turned it off again quickly. It was probably the least popular major, development-intensive feature we hav...

Re: Problem with Screenshots

Hi Gerold,

I'm passing this on to the developers. However, I wouldn't expect screenshots to function via RDP at all. I'm surprised it's not locking up your computer and turning it into a purple pumpkin.

Re: Variable Files via Command Line not working

You didn't comment on my suggestions that it would be nice that it fails if the variable file does not exist. Even if it was noted in the log file (which I frequently review after a build). Sorry, I just forgot to mention it. I think this was actually always the case but I agree that it would be go...

Re: Variable Files via Command Line not working

Hi Ed, Glad to hear you got it sorted now. :) If I recall correctly--and this goes back 10+ years ago--the variable file path wasn't relative to the project path. In the command line interface all relative paths have always been relative to the project path. That has never changed because it was one...

Re: Variable Files via Command Line not working

Hi Ed, OK, just to check all the possibilities: ⋅ Try putting all the referenced files in your project folder, to make absolutely sure they are available. Then just reference them with their names or .\ in front of the name. ⋅ Use the /debug switch to get more information about w...

Re: Variable Files via Command Line not working

Hi Ed,

I tested a 2017 build and it worked but the late-2018 build does not work).

Are you using the current build, which is 7.5.3 Build 4740?

Re: Finding candidate text for making into reusable snippets

Hi David, Even though you appreciate that it would take a fairly long time, I think you're significantly underestimating the enormity of the programming task you are proposing here. Establishing similarity would have to be a sliding scale and would need to be able to handle things like different for...

Re: WebHelp URLs

Hi Praveen, Note that you also need to configure the Premium Pack skin you are using before using it. For example you need to at least set the URL for your own logo and the email address for email feedback before putting it online. You can find the documentation in the Help+Manual Premium Pack chapt...

Re: WebHelp URLs

Hi Praveen, The online version of the Help+Manual documentation now uses a Premium Pack V3 responsive skin. In standard WebHelp the URL does not change because you are always on the same page. Since so much information needs to be displayed on the same page the components are separate files that are...

Re: Updating the H&M documentation

Hi Debra, Thanks for posting. You can always let us know about things like this at the support email address, which is support AT ec-software.com (replace the AT with @). However, the "Include Print Button" option has nothing to do with Help+Manual itself. It is a "skin include" ...

Re: Regarding image clarity

On modern computers this is normal. All images viewed in a web browser are now scaled up or down because nothing is ever viewed at 100% 1:1 pixel to pixel any more -- or almost never. There is a complex chain of different scaling operations involved: The zoom level of the browser; the defined size o...

Re: Visible right margin indicator in the editor

Hi Vincent, There are no margins in the Help+Manual editor and there cannot be any. Help+Manual produces output for many different formats and only some of them have margins. There are no margins in HTML pages, for example. Also, even in the formats that have margins (ePub, Kindle, DOCX, PDF) you wi...
