Re: Grammarly & Markdown Support

Hi Simon, One obvious possibility is round-tripping individual topics to subject-matter experts for review/updating in a cloud editor based on Markdown or ProseMirror . Or even publishing entire titles in a round-trip editable form, etc. I'm not experienced with two-way XSL transformations. Provided...

Re: Grammarly & Markdown Support

Hi Andy, We are already considering Markdown. Definitely import but also, possibly, export. The prospect of export gives us a belly ache, however, because of the huge restrictions on what can be exported to it. We need to think about that very carefully. We're also considering grammar checking softw...

Re: eWriter task -- skin and command line

Fraid not, I saved and closed the project -- hadn't even launched H&M -- (even restarted the computer), but still the same issue. The task is there -- re-executed it today both per batch and per Task Manager -- the former outputs the wrong skin, the latter the correct one. This is strange. Plea...

Re: eWriter task -- skin and command line

Hi John,

It sounds as though the skin is not being located. The most likely cause is that you didn't save the project after creating the publishing task. Then the task is not available, or an older version with a different skin reference is being used.

Re: Can't Edit Styles because they are greyed out

Hi Steffen, But for this to work, the dummy projects must also contain all the topics and snippets, is this correct? You have to disconnect from the repository, of course, because you are no longer using it. However, the snippets don't have to be in those projects. You can still go on using the snip...

Re: Links with anchors don't work (eBooks)

It does not depend on a skin. I tested a V2 WebHelp + EWriter skin, a V3 eBook skin and an export without skin. In addition, the command line call does also not work, e.g. "ProjectA.exe index.html?ko.htm#Ziel". It opens the beginning of the page. The problem may be that you are using uppe...

Re: Links with anchors don't work (eBooks)

Hi Natalie,

This may depend on the skin you are using. There are some skins for eBooks in the Premium Pack that use a different syntax. If that is the case look in the chapter of the Premium Pack help for that skin and you will find instructions for the linking syntax.

Re: Navigation in eBooks

Hi Natalie, You need to use the Back and Forward options in the eWriter viewer for this. Go to Configuration > Publishing Options > eBooks > Ewriter and then look in the Menus and Translation tab. If you activate the Include an Application Menu option then you will get a menu with Forward and Back o...

Re: Questions about TRANSLATION process

Hi Ed, It's hard to say what the problem is with the text that shouldn't have been translated. It won't have been translated automatically if it was the first time, that would be a human translator. You'd need to check with them first to see if there was a misunderstanding about what should and shou...

Re: Can't Edit Styles because they are greyed out

Hi Steffen, Switching repositories back and forth is currently a little fiddly because of the way they replace styles in your project. However, at the moment that would be the only way to really switch the content styles for the project, since the PDF template (and HTML skins as well) really only sw...

Re: Cannot edit the style of hmskin file

Hi David, Style repository switching is unfortunately not trivial at the moment, as it involves physically rewriting all the styles defined in the project. It is not really something you want to be doing back and forth on an ongoing basis, at least not without great care and attention. Basically you...

Re: Can't Edit Styles because they are greyed out

Hi Steffen, You can change a repository from link to copy, that is fine. After that there is no longer a live link between the repository and the styles in the project. Basically, the repository is used once as a template. Changes made in the repository after that will no longer be reflected in the ...

Re: CHM vs. WebHelp vs. ?

However, when I now publish time merge, the variable from the first child project is applied correctly to it in the master TOC -- but then also applied to all the other children instead of their own locally defined <%MY_OPTION_NAME%>. That would only happen if they are children of the first child p...

Re: Can't Edit Styles because they are greyed out

Hi Steffen,

If your styles are greyed out in your project that means you have linked a style repository to the project. This allows you to use the same stylesheet for multiple projects to keep your styles consistent across all the projects. Then you need to edit the styles in the repository.
