Re: Multiple Editors on Help&Manual Professional

Hi Lin, Each Help+Manual Professional license is for one user. If you want to have two users working on the same project that is possible, but then you need a second license for the second user. (You can get a large discount for purchasing multiple licenses.) You can work on the same project directl...

Hi Mike,

Please mail me a small demo project that reproduces the problem and your configured .hmskin file and I'll check it for you here. Pack everything in a zip and mail to support AT ec-software.com (replace the AT with @).

Re: Getting the picture size correct for Iphones etc

Hi Garry, You don't need to "import again from scratch" to change image settings. Just double-click on the image in the editor and you can change everything. 8) Toggle images are a special case. You can set the preview image to a percentage, but the expanded image will break mobile layouts...

Re: Getting the picture size correct for Iphones etc

Hi Garry, The only problem here is that you are still using graphics with absolute dimensions. You don't need to think about those any more and shouldn't use them, ever. Set your images to "% of page width, maximum is native width", then you will no longer have these problems and all of th...

Re: template issue

Hi Mike,

It sounds as though you may have edited something with an editor that does not store the files correctly in UTF-8. Please try publishing to an empty folder (or with delete files before publishing) using an unedited original skin to see if you are still getting that message.

Re: Trying to insert Social media button scripts

Hi Mark,

That shouldn't be a problem, as long as it works both in the first topic you visit and in subsequent topics you browse to after landing on that first topic. That is the key test you need to perform for things like that.

Re: Lightweight user commenting system

Hi Mark, This won't work, and even if it did the results would be such that you would turn it off again very quickly. Integrating comments in WebHelp requires much more than just tacking in some code with duct tape and string, particularly in the WebHelp 3 format, because of the need to synchronize ...

Re: Primer for creating our own skins

Hi Ed, 1) I have an old HTML skin that I want to change--or should I start with an existing 3.x skin and modify it? You can change an old skin if you like, but that will not transform it into a V3 skin. That would be like changing the oil in a VW Beetle and having it to turn into a Corvette. 8) 2) I...

Re: Trying to insert Social media button scripts

Hi Mark, All this is already integrated in these skins. Why don't you just activate the social sharing options? Getting the right URL for sharing a topic is not as simple as it seems. V3 skins: http://www.it-authoring.com/info/pp3help/sp03_resp_config_share.html V2 skins (share button): http://www.i...

Re: How to find referrers to an Anchor ID

Hi Lex, Thank you for your mail! You can't do this from within Help+Manual but the references are still quite easy to find. You just need to save your project in the uncompressed HMXP format and perform a multi-file search for anchor="anchor_id" in the XML files in the /Topics folder, repl...

Re: Insert External project

The external project is stores in another repository, may be that is a reason....What you think? Yes, of course. When you include an external project in a master project in Help+Manual the only change in the master project is a small link in the table of contents. There is no data from the o...

Re: Minimum files to upload after a single topic change

As so often, the answer here is "it depends". Here are some basic rules of thumb: ⋅ If you change or update the skin you are using, it's best to upload everything. ⋅ If you add new topics or make changes in the TOC, it's best to upload everything. ⋅ If you upd...

Re: How to mark changes for review?

Hi Tansy, You can do it like that. Another way is to put the changes in comments, which are not included in PDF output unless you explicitly include them. Comments can also be combined with bookmarks: http://www.helpandmanual.com/help/index.html?hm_working_topics_bookmarks.htm You can also mark topi...
