Re: Help & Manual with Google Backup and Sync, error

Hi Sergey, Welcome to the forum! I tried using Help & Manual 6 with Google Backup and Sync to collaborate on a project together with a partner. That won't work. All it will do is make a mess that will be very difficult to clean up, and it is very good that this error has prevented you from proce...

Re: Image scale onscreen and pdf

Hi John, In PDF you are constrained by the page dimensions, which are absolute -- a PDF is still really just printer output in a file. In order to prevent layouts from breaking, Help+Manual will do everything it can to fit your content into the PDF margins. Multiple images that won't fit will be shi...

Re: Call for expert advice

Are there families of languages where you would say it is O.K. to keep the languages in a single file (and if not, why exactly)? It is not ever practical to have multiple languages in a single project. There would be zero benefits to doing it like that, only disadvantages. Quite apart from the prac...

Re: Image scale onscreen and pdf

Hi John, The image scale setting "%of page width, maximum is physical size" works well on screen. This also works for PDF. What problem are you experiencing with that there? Is there another option somewhere to set for pdf or do I have to duplicate images and put a condition around them? Y...

Re: "Extract" the command line parameters?

Hi Christian, Sorry, this isn't possible because a publishing task isn't actually using the command line. When you call a task Help+Manual is really running the task, in the same way that it would when you publish the task manually from within Help+Manual itself. It doesn't need to use the command l...

Re: Feature request

Hi Mark, This is already available. You just need to add a mode switch with collapse or expand to the settings object, like this: javascript:hmWebHelp.extFuncs('hmDoToggle',{method: 'hmToggleToggles', obj: {speed: 80, mode: 'collapse'}}) javascript:hmWebHelp.extFuncs('hmDoToggle',{method: 'hmToggleT...

Re: Screenshot toggle with "max. physical size" optioin

Hi Mark, I'll pass this on. However, this shouldn't really be an issue: If you're displaying the preview image so large that it's physically possible for it to be larger than its original size then it doesn't really need to be a toggle in the first place. :) Tip: Since you are using V3 skins you mig...

Re: TOC behavior with non-TOC topics

Hi Mark, Thanks for reporting this. This is a limitation of the WebHelp 3 format in the V3 Responsive skins that has never been noticed before. I'll make sure a correction makes it into the next update. :) PS: The current workaround is to use the Back button in the browser. That will take you back t...

Re: Multiple Editors on Help&Manual Professional

Hi Lin, Each Help+Manual Professional license is for one user. If you want to have two users working on the same project that is possible, but then you need a second license for the second user. (You can get a large discount for purchasing multiple licenses.) You can work on the same project directl...

Re: Getting the picture size correct for Iphones etc

Hi Garry, You don't need to "import again from scratch" to change image settings. Just double-click on the image in the editor and you can change everything. 8) Toggle images are a special case. You can set the preview image to a percentage, but the expanded image will break mobile layouts...

Re: Getting the picture size correct for Iphones etc

Hi Garry, The only problem here is that you are still using graphics with absolute dimensions. You don't need to think about those any more and shouldn't use them, ever. Set your images to "% of page width, maximum is native width", then you will no longer have these problems and all of th...

Re: template issue

Hi Mike,

It sounds as though you may have edited something with an editor that does not store the files correctly in UTF-8. Please try publishing to an empty folder (or with delete files before publishing) using an unedited original skin to see if you are still getting that message.
