Re: case-sensitive search

Hi Olga, WebHelp search isn't case-sensitive. What has probably happened is that you have accidentally turned on support for single-case languages, which should only be on for Asian languages. You can find the setting in Project Explorer: Configuration > Publishing Options > WebHelp > Full Text Sear...

Re: Index icons not active in WebHelp Chrome

Hi Lamda, Welcome to the forum and Help+Manual! This is happening because you are testing your WebHelp locally without a web server. Once it is online it will work fine in Chrome, and you can also test locally in Chrome if Chrome is your default browser, so that the WebHelp opens in Chrome automatic...

Re: <TR> and <THEAD> content of style attribute gets reverte

Hi Michal, You can't edit anything in the XML that is not specifically defined in the Help+Manual XML schema. It is necessary to use strictly-defined XML with zero tolerance for any deviations, otherwise it would not be possible to reliably export to so many different output formats. You can only ap...

Re: WebHelp - after linking to anchor, return to same place?

Martin Wynne wrote:Just tried touching the icons instead of clicking them, and they work. :)

Yes, the problem is only on Windows touch devices. On normal desktop browsers without touch and on iOS and Android mobile devices it's fine. Should be an easy fix.

Re: WebHelp - after linking to anchor, return to same place?

Hi Martin, Update on the new Firefox: It has to do with the generic click/touch event definer from the Premium Pack that is also used in Help+Manual's responsive scripts. It defines a generic event called touchstart based on the current browser's capabilities and that is failing in the new FireFox. ...

Re: navigation to previous topic

Hi Gillian, I have moved the topic to the Help+Manual 7 section where it belongs. I'm creating and editing help files for a medical software system. The type of software is not really relevant. What matters for your questions is the help format you are creating with Help+Manual(CHM, WebHelp, PDF etc...

Re: navigation to previous topic

Hi Gillian, Unfortunately, you don't say what help format you are using. Also, you have posted in the Help+Manual 4 forum -- are you really still using Help+Manual 4? If you are referring to WebHelp (displayed in a web browser) or HTML Help (CHM help for Windows programs) then there are always two d...

Re: WebHelp - after linking to anchor, return to same place?

Hi Martin, Surely you are referring there only to the V3 Webhelp, not Webhelp generally? I was referring to WebHelp generally. I had always assumed it never returned to the previous scroll position with the browser Back button in iFrames, but apparently it does (but not in toggles), which I find sur...

Re: Welcome!

Hi Gillian, Welcome to the forum! Hi I've just joined - and am having difficulty posting a topic! Found help in FAQ but don't see any button for posting a topic. You need to first open the section you want to post in. Then you will see a white and red "New Topic" button at the top left wit...

Re: compiler messages indicators

You can already filter the messages in the compiler output, this may help you.

View > Program Options > Compilers:

compilermessages.png

You can also save the compiler report to an HTML file with the button above the report and then filter it in an editor.

Re: WebHelp - after linking to anchor, return to same place?

Hi Dave, Because of the way WebHelp must work, a number of things that are possible in "normal" web pages are not possible in WebHelp. Returning to the scroll position with the Back/Forward browser buttons is one of those things. A normal web page is a single static page that is managed en...

Re: CHM & HTML output different using same skin

You're welcome!

As Martin suggested, do try EWriter. It has a lot of benefits for local help:

Re: Highlight text programmatically

Hi Ken, Thanks for the project. These were the problems: ⋅  Overlapping span tags The ending span tags were between other tag pairs. Your tags need to begin and end as single units, like this: <span> xxxxx </span><span>xxxx</span><span>xxxxxx</span> ⋅  Missing class attributes On...

Re: CHM & HTML output different using same skin

Hi Chris,

Further to Martin's comments: Even though some WebHelp skins can be used for CHM, they can only style the topic box, nothing else. The CHM viewer is a Microsoft component and an integral part of Windows. Its appearance cannot be changed by a skin. It always looks the same. 8)
