Re: Date stamp in WinHelp output

Hi Dave, If you're just using the version and it's global for the entire project then that's fine in both V2 and V3. Is it perhaps HM_HEADERBOX.html - and something like inserting Yes, but you missed the formatting requirement for the variable name and left out the % characters. <VERSION_BUILD> won'...

Re: Date stamp in WinHelp output

Hi Dave, There are a lot of variables you can use for this: https://helpandmanual.com/help/index.html?hm_ref_variables_global.htm You can also define your own variables. See the rest of that chapter for details on how to use them. Basically pretty much anywhere -- you can use the Variables tool in t...

Re: Error when publishing as PDF

Hi Kif, Do you get the same error if you use a different template? Try with one of the standard PDF templates supplied with Help+Manual. The most likely culprit in this case is one of the images in the template. You can try making a backup of it and taking the images out one by one and re-publishing...

Re: Error when publishing as PDF

Hi Kif,

This error usually occurs when your local disk is full and Help & Manual cannot write the temporary files for the PDF (which may be rather big, sometimes several MB per page). Check free space on your disk and make some free. :)

Re: Restoring Compatibility with Current Tortoise SVN

Hi Anders, This is necessary because Tortoise continues to not provide the 32-bit components with its 64-bit installation. These components are necessary on 64-bit Windows for 32-bit programs like Help+Manual to be able to communicate with Tortoise and SVN. You don't need the 1.9.4 version. You just...

Re: Link to CHM with subfolder

John, See Julio's instructions for creating links manually (I was going to add that next). The link from the Master TOC is in the Project Explorer (i.e. not from a page -- but directly from the TOC). Don't do this with runtime modules. That is self-defeating and bad practice. You can insert the CHM ...

Re: Link to CHM with subfolder

Hi John, Ah, when you said you were importing them it sounded as though you wanted to convert them to HM projects and keep their multi-level structure. You can link to an existing CHM like that without problems. You just need to select the CHM directly in the Help File: field in the Link tool. Then ...

Re: Link to CHM with subfolder

Hi John, I'm afraid HM doesn't support CHMs with internal sub-folders. It always creates a flat file structure inside the CHM and can't create anything else. So if you need to go on supporting those you won't be able to create them from a HM project, because it always creates its own flat file struc...

Re: Link to CHM with subfolder

If you don't have the HM projects from which the CHMs were created (which you won't if they weren't created with HM, of course...) you'll need to do some multi-file search and replace on the topic files. For this make sure that your projects are saved in the uncompressed HMXP format, for which you w...

Re: Report - procedure for saving as HTML?

Hi Dave,

Right-click on the web page and select Save As, just as you would with any other page in a web browser. 8)

Re: WebHelp - Single tap on navigation (mobile)

Ohh i see! I'll test that out asap. Thanks! :D No need to be embarrassed. It's difficult to make everything intuitive and a lot of things aren't even if we'd like them to be. I'm so deeply immersed in this software myself that I have to constantly remind myself that pretty much everything is...

Re: Getting a Feedback Button on a WebHelp using a PP Skin

Hi Patrick, The iFrames Responsive Blue skin isn't a Premium Pack skin, it's one of the standard skins included with Help+Manual and doesn't have a feedback button feature. You can get a feedback feature with either the V2 or the V3 skins in the Premium Pack. See the documentation here for details: ...

Re: Topic navigation squished up

Hi Lamda, This will be caused by changes to the CSS for the #idnav table cell and its contents in the HTML page template in Confuguration > HTML Page Templates > Default in the skin. My guess is that you have adjusted the background position settings for the navigation buttons. Here are the original...

Re: Able to change logo in Webskin, but not its hotspot

Hi Dave, Sorry, I thought you were referring to a V3 skin. That's a V2. The setting there is really in the headerbox baggage file, HM_HEADERBOX.html. You will find the link right at the top. It is there because this older skin design was created before Help+Manual was able to process variables in ba...
