Re: gather all my images

Please let me know if there is a quicker way. Certainly, here you go: http://www.helpandmanual.com/help/index.html?hm_working_graphics_managing.htm To summarize: ⋅ Move all your graphics file to a single folder. Ideally, this folder should be inside the project folder. Then you can move t...

Re: Japanese icons

Hi Tim, This means that web fonts are disabled in your IE settings. The "icons" in these skins are actually a special compressed font with just a few characters that save a lot of space for speed and scale without going fuzzy. See the instructions for correcting this here in the Premium Pa...

Re: spell check

Hi Cedric, If I type a spelling mistake, I may have typed another 15 words before the app identifies my mistake. Then something is definitely slowing you down. There are a couple of things that can do this. The main one is having a lot of embedded images in your project. Embedded images are created ...

Re: Numbering in tables

Is there a way we, well you, could create the latter option, something like <%A.A++%>? The first A would have to relate to the A in <%A++%> Sorry, but this doesn't work with the current numbering variables. They are really just dumb placeholders that get incremented on every occurrence. :?

Re: inverted images, single character lines

Hi Cedric, The solution may be simpler than you think. I recommend that you send the project, or at least a sample part of it, to support AT ec-software.com (replace the AT with @) so that we can check it and comment. To create a smaller version for mailing just select Save As... in the File menu an...

Fixing broken YouTube in CHM

Recent changes at YouTube have resulted in a hailstorm of JS error messages when you play a YouTube video in a CHM help file. The fix is simple and will be included in all skins and templates in the next maintenance update. For now, you can fix it yourself by following these instructions on our news...

Re: Problems with Youtube videos.

Hi Michael, This is actually caused by changes at YouTube. Until recently, everything worked fine with the IE=8 setting that is the default for CHM in all our skins and the standard templates in Help+Manual projects without skins. We're changing this to "edge" everywhere for the next maint...

Re: HTML Help (secondary) window size auto-adjustable?

Hi Christoph, There isn't a setting for this because, unfortunately, Microsoft doesn't provide it in the HTML Help API. Actually, CHM is also effectively a legacy help format that has been abandoned by Microsoft, just as they have abandoned all the other help formats they have ever created. It has n...

Re: Problems with Youtube videos.

Update: The problem here is simply that by default, skins and templates have the IE rendering mode set to IE=8 by default, for maximum compatibility. You only need to locate this line in your HTML Page Template in the project (if you are not using a skin) or in the .hmskin file you are using (if yo...

Re: Manual designer: Creating a section

Hi Tamara, There is currently no way to create PDF template pages where the text flows from one page to the next. That is an absolute restriction. You can add any PDF template section to the Bookmarks TOC (the interactive one shown in the PDF Reader) by editing its page options and adding the title ...

Re: Font embedding (or not) in PDF

Hi Ed, Some less capable PDF viewers may have problems with Type 3 font embedding. However, full-featured viewers like Adobe Reader, Foxit and PDFXChange don't, and Type 3 solves myriad problems with special characters and international character sets. However, it also makes slightly less sharp text...

Re: inverted images, single character lines

Hi Cedric, It sounds as though there is either something very wrong with the PDF template you are using, or you are using tables incorrectly. First try publishing to PDF with one of the standard templates without editing it. You could get the single character per line effect if you edit the topic te...

Hi Cedric, This is a feature, not a bug. 8) Image references only have the image name, the location(s) is/are defined in the Project Search Path setting in the Project Explorer on the left, down in Configuration > Common Properties > Project Search Path . Re: spell check

Hi Cedric,

This is definitely not a known issue. However, are you only hovering and waiting for suggestions? You can wait all day for that. You need to right-click to bring up the context menu. :)
