Re: 508 Compliance - CHM

Hi Tonea, No, it doesn't. If you want to talk about code, please review the code I sent in the second message of this thread: That is the XML source code of the topic and has nothing to do with the HTML code in the skin or output. They never come into contact with each other. And at the risk of anno...

Re: Suggestion for more flexibility in design of MNL layouts

Just revisiting old posts... any plans on MNL layouts being able to support this kind of stuff yet? I've implemented H&M in a few places now, and often they have existing documentation in the infomap design... sometimes I get pushback because the PDFs I deliver cant do this Sidebars in PDF are ...

Re: 508 Compliance - CHM

Hi Tonea, Please try replacing the current topic page template code with the experimental version below. This is only experimental, to see whether the screen reader is able to see the header if it isn't packed in a table. The navigation links will work, but they will overlap the topic header title i...

Re: 508 Compliance - CHM

Hi Tonea, I'm asking Alexander to have another look at this as well. The CHM viewer is a very ancient Microsoft component that they have not updated or even bug-fixed since it was originally released with Windows 98. It is basically an unchanged Windows 98 program with all its original bugs (it does...

Re: Find & Replace - Builds

Hi Ga,

You can search for build tags with the Find Where option, but there is currently no way to search in content only corresponding to specific build options.

Re: Adding MetaTags

Hi Lindsay, How do you publish the pages as PHP? I didn't even know that was an option. You can change the topic file extension to .php or .asp or anything else in Configuration > Publishing Options > WebHelp > HTML Export Options. Then it is up to you to add the appropriate PHP scripts to your temp...

Re: Manual page break adds extra paragraph mark (Word)

Hi Michal, The solution is quite simple: The problem is caused by adding the page break at the end of a topic, which is not where it belongs. You need to add it at the beginning of the next chapter, before the very first character of the first paragraph (there should not be even a single character b...

Re: While I realize this may be the wrong direction...

Hi Derek, Markdown export is currently not supported, sorry. Since Markdown is so basic it would mean ignoring a very large amount of formatting and constructs that are possible in Help+Manual projects, and careful consideration would be needed to decide what to do with the un-exportable parts. We'r...

Re: 508 Compliance - CHM

Hi Tonea, I visually went and looked at the CHM file that has the skin applied. There is no floating header. I scroll down and the header goes off the top of the frame. That's odd, because we don't have any skins that work with CHM without non-scrolling headers. They don't exist. Either you're not r...

Re: New - Help with logo

Hi Matthew, The background in a transparent PNG can only change to black if you're processing it in a graphics program and saving it without the transparency. Using it in the skin doesn't change anything; it only inserts the graphic. Did you edit the logo image before adding it to the skin, for exam...

Re: generating webhelp with v3 skin

Martin Wynne wrote:If I publish Webhelp without using a skin, everything is in a single flat output folder. Is that going to change?

No, this will continue to be skin-related. Only skin types that specifically set a folder structure (at present V3) will use one, otherwise it will be the standard flat file structure.

Re: generating webhelp with v3 skin

Just one more question - is there any way to publish js and images into the general Publish folder too, not into their separate images and jstopics folders? No. That is also absolutely final. There are no tricks, workarounds or exceptions for this. It is an absolute requirement that cannot and will...

Re: generating webhelp with v3 skin

When I publish the updated project with the old Webhelp Responsive skin, only modified topcs are updated in the Publish folder, so I can sort them by the file date (descending), and copy to the server only 20-30 modified files with the today's date. That is a misunderstanding! Generally speaking, t...

Re: Unintended whitespaces in .pdf document after export

Hi Dominik, (Font is "Raleway") Are you embedding the font in the PDF? You should always do that as a matter of course when using non-standard fonts that might not be on the user's computer. Also, try the following two options one after another, in Configuration > Publishing Options > PDF ...

Re: Full text search oddity

Hi Tim,

These things have both already been identified and fixed and will be included in a maintenance update to be released shortly. I'm just laid up with flu at the moment so I don't want to do the final build until I have a clear head again... Probably at the beginning of next week. 8)
