Re: Default font for new top-level styles

Hi Rainer,

This isn't customizable. It's the general default. :?

Re: Questions about TRANSLATION process

Hi Ed, Don't worry about bold and italics, those are basically unavoidable tags. If you did them with styles you'd also have tags; they'd just say the style name instead of bold or italics. Swings and roundabouts -- nothing lost, nothing gained. 8) 1) According to the H&M documentation, my proje...

Re: How do I keep captions on the same page with the image?

Hi Tansy,

The problem is probably that you are applying the style with the keep-with-next property to the image. That property is a paragraph property and you cannot apply it to an image. You must apply it to the paragraph containing the image.

Re: Regarding color of chapter and page icons

Hi Vanitha, The icons are little graphics files so you do need to choose different ones to change them. It also depends on the settings in the skin you are using, If the skin is using "custom" icons it will only have a set of three icons (open chapter, closed chapter, topic) and you must c...

Re: SOLVED – Independent horizontal alignment of table and c

Hi Rainer, Just found the solution: Don’t select the whole table, but put the cursor AFTER the table before the table paragraph marker. Works as intended, and seems perfectly logical, too. Exactly: Every table is its own paragraph and you control its alignment on the page with the alignment of that ...

Re: How do I keep captions on the same page with the image?

Hi Tansy, How are you creating the captions? If you are using the Caption option in the Insert Image dialog (double-click on the image in the editor to display it again) it shouldn't be possible for the caption and the image to be separated. If you are creating the caption yourself in a separate par...

Re: SVG graphic performance

To be honest, I've never understood "baggage files", so had no idea that they could be used this way. The baggage is really just a bucket for files you want to include in your output. Everything you put there will get exported to your WebHelp folder along with the other files. The caveat ...

Re: is there a simpler way of doing this - massive multiple

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have translated before using separate projects. The ONLY reason I didn't do it here is that it is ONLY the TOC that requires translation - there is no "text" to translate in the topics themselves.. Ah, that wasn't clear. That should work then, provided that th...

Re: Publish PDF. New Odd Page

Thank you for answer, Tim. But it doesn't work... Maybe we are talking at cross-purposes. To be sure we are talking about the same thing, please describe "doesn't work" in a little more detail. Note that if you are also using a "Top Level Intro" page that is a separate section w...

Re: Publish PDF. New Odd Page

You probably forgot to turn off the "Ignore blank pages" setting in Configuration > Publishing Options > PDF > PDF Layout. If that is on no blank pages are inserted so it is not possible to force starting on an odd page if a blank page is necessary. :)

Re: is there a simpler way of doing this - massive multiple

Hi Simon, Don't try to include or manage multiple language versions in a single project. Just don't even consider it, unless you really enjoy pain, suffering and endless frustration. Always always always create a separate project for each language. There are countless reasons for this, but these ite...

Re: SVG graphic performance

Some of the drawings in question also contain many thousands of objects, so maintaining the vector format, although ultimately the most desirable, may present other problems such as bloat and crashes. That is definitely not something you want to have as an active vector image on a web page. :? Even...

Re: Understanding HTML Templates

Hi Paul, I had thought the HTML Templates would cut down on the work of having to manually modify every page with similar content. The the HTML templates are most decidedly the wrong choice for achieving that. They have nothing to do with topic content. They only define the layout and functionality ...

Re: Understanding HTML Templates

Hi Paul, What am I missing? Basically, you are trying to run before you can walk here. Before trying to roll your own you need to get a basic understanding of how templates and skins work in Help+Manual, otherwise you're going to be very frustrated. These chapters in the help are a good starting poi...
