ewriter - surpressing footer from search
Hi folks: Am testing ewriter in comparison with .chm. "Search" finds the expected results in .chm, but in ewriter it also finds the boilerplate text at the foot of every Help page in my Configuration Template. This produces 615 results for a commonly-used search term instead of the correct...

Webhelp: how to force an index panel to display?
Folks: Users can Google-search my webhelp, but that takes them to a webpage without an index panel. How can I force an index panel to display? Any suggestions?

Webhelp with https:// links instead of http:// ?
Folks: where's the HM setting to force all webhelp links to be https:// instead of http:// ?
At present I do this with a global replace in the .htm files after publishing to webhelp, but there must be an easier way!
Thanks

Thanks, Tim.
Apologies about "extensions". Please extend me forgiveness!
Am scanning down the Full Report listing of images looking for culprits. Found about 30 in one project.

Image suffix collisions cause wrong image to display
There are many image suffixes allowed. Good! But some are converted to other suffixes when they are published. Not so good :-( For instance, myimage.bmp in HM8 (and probably earlier versions) is converted to myimage.png when it is published to Webhelp. This is OK except when myimage.png already exis...

Re: HTML Help (.chm) Script Error
Thanks Tim.
Adding this line to the Configuration Template did the job.
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge" />
An easy fix
and its backwards-compatible with HM7.

HTML Help (.chm) Script Error
Published the same project with HM7 and HM8. HM7 success - I have published this same project many times HM8 - published to HTML Help (.chm) Launching the .chm file produces this: Script Error Line: 2 Char 29928 Error: Object doesn't support property or method 'addEventListener' Code: 0 URL mk:@MSIT...

Webpage date as most recent change in topic or snippet
Hi folks: Some topics in my H&M Projects are mostly snippets. When a snippet changes, I want to circulate the changed webpages to end-users. Choosing the relevant webpages would be much easier if each webpage was dated by the most recent change in the topic or any of its included snippets, not d...

Editor-XML-Topic Options tab position in portrait mode
In my HM7 screen, the Editor-XML-Topic Options tabs position is top-left side of the Editor panel. This is great for screens in landscape mode, but my screen is in portrait mode, so this causes a vertical strip of wasted screen space. Is there any way to move these tabs to the top or bottom of the E...

Re: Applying a style/highlight to every instance of a word
Thanks, Tim, for the correction. Apologies, my original global-replace does have unwanted side-effects. The locations of the "xxx" are even more visible than intended. Congratulations to HM programmers that neither HM nor the project crashes!

Re: Applying a style/highlight to every instance of a word
Sa, an immediate work-around. 1. Define the style - xstyle - for your xxx 2. Save your project as uncompressed XML, and also save a compressed XML as back-up. 3. Close the project 4. Use a find-and-replace utility, such as PowerGREP 5. Global replace in the uncompressed project .xml files: xxx by <t...
