Re: Export Style Names behavior with WebHelp Output

Hi Julio, We have identified the problem. Those accented characters are perfectly valid in HTML5. However, the CSS stylesheet that H&M exports was ANSI-encoded (the Webhelp output is generally UTF-8 encoded). In most cases, the encoding of the CSS doesn't matter, but for style names with accented ch...

Re: Repeat header not working in MS Word output

Hi Caroline,
It works like a charm for me. Can you perhaps send an example project to reproduce your case?

Re: DeepL - means to mark certain words "do not translate"?

This has been implemented in build 5600 . A pre-release version is available from this link: https://www.helpandmanual.com/download/help-and-manual-setup-v811.exe The DeepL plugin now respects protected (= non translatable) text. Please note that there might occur some glitches like spaces vanishing...

Re: Failure on using a variable on print current selected topic

That expect me, that the variable becomes the same value defined in the current topic.
For the TOC there is no "current" topic.

Re: Failure on using a variable on print current selected topic

This is correct in general, though I cannot see any difference between print preview and print/PDF. The correct value of this variable in the print manual is "Hello". Especially on the table-of-contents page and on all other pages except that page where this particular topic with the variable-overla...

Re: Command Line Batch Build HelpXplain Error

Help+Manual looks for the Xplain batch compiler "xplaincmd.exe" in the following order: 1) In Program Options, you can specify the installation folder of "HelpXplain.exe" as the editor for screencasts. If this is specified, it looks for the compiler in the folder of the HelpXplain installation speci...

Re: ODBC-connection for SQL-query to external databases assigned to a field-definition using in topic-text

We talked in private about this for a while and my suggestion was to post such a request in the user forum to see if it stirs up interest from other users. However, I would like to clarify what is possible/thinkable and what is not. There's no way that we implement a full-fledged database connection...

Re: Standard output when publishing from the command line

That hasn't changed between version 7 and 8: the resulting output is either console or log file but not both. In fact, the console output (STDOUT) is redirected to a log file. There is no double reporting for command line compilation. What do you need the console output for?

Re: HX skin when inserted in H&M?

While using this method the share button of the "Default skins" is not displayed in the *.chm.
Help+Manual removes the share buttons for CHM and eBook compilation. To share an Xplain it has to have a public web address. There's nothing to share from inside a CHM file.

Re: Publish selected topics, Word output oddity

Hi Dave, Do the selected topics have one common ancestor node? The MS Word export strictly adheres to the TOC, because there is no other way to structure the content in Word. So if you do a multi-selection in different sub-chapters, it needs one common ancestor node to tie them together. And that ma...

Re: Accessible PDF

Sorry, this answer is not correct. There is no section 508 for PDFs in particular, but accessible PDFs are in the format PDF/A. This is supported in Help+Manual. You can set this option in Config > Publishing Options > PDF > PDF Options . the "PDF/A Mode" is what you need. Help+Manual supports PDF/A...

Re: Bookmark sorting

Hello Ron, If you manage bookmarks manually, they appear in the order as you set them (latest bookmark at the end of the list). If you let H&M manage bookmarks automatically, it creates a bookmark for every comment in a topic. In this case, bookmarks are updated whenever the topic that includes the ...

Re: Lightbox loads ./xplain/*.html from root domain instead of relative path

Hi Markus, Is this Help+Manual 7 or Help+Manual 8? HM7 used a slightly different method to load Xplains. I totally do not understand due to the ./ before the xplain folder The ./ refers to the current folder, which is the topic folder. The topic file, which hosts the Xplain, is located in www.our-do...
