Re: Is HelpXplain XML documented?

Hi Simon, The XML is a proprietary format, it is not officially documented. An automated generator might be difficult to build, because an .xplain file contains ready-to-export static snapshots of all slides. They are used for preview, as poster images when Help+Manual exports an Xplain and for prin...

Re: Equation editor output resolution

Equations are currently exported as PNG images at their native size for 96 DPI. Our goal is to export them as inline SVG to make the equations fully scalable, as we do with the new symbol font conversion option. The SVG export was implemented for testing and works like a charm for many equations, bu...

Re: Problem capturing from non-modal window

This is correct - not just for our screen capture. A program that runs in a normal user context cannot "see" other windows that run in an elevated-rights context. Windows prevents that, for security reasons. You can only capture these windows by visually selecting their boundaries from the screen.

Re: ebook/pdf - Viewer does not support full SVG 1.1

Hi Ga, I've answered with a private email. However, it appears that SVG creation with draw.io is not the best option around. Your small SVG example file created a whooping 23 errors when run through the W3C online validator (https://validator.w3.org/). The file also contains several <div> tags, whic...

Re: Opening a CHM file on a 64bit system

So I placed my chm file in the same directory as hh.exe HH.EXE is a system component. I hope you don't have it in your application folder. On the other hand, it's probably a bad idea to place your private CHM files in the c:\Windows folder. When you open a CHM file from your application, how do you...

Re: H&M auto generates unexpected links

This is the magic of Adobe Reader. Help+Manual does not insert a link here, it is Adobe Reader that does it. Tip: format the http part somewhat differently, e.g. italic or bold. That breaks this string into two parts and Adobe doesn't recognize it anymore.

Re: Publishing to PDF with Wingdings

Symbol fonts like Wingdings and Symbol are exported to PDF as graphics by default. You can change this option in Configuration > Publishing Options > Adobe PDF > Font Embedding . Deactivate the option " Export Symbol Fonts as Glyphs " and export the PDF again. To test your PDF, open it with Adobe Vi...

Re: Styles for .ipp objects - or import to HelpXplain

Some minor additions... The precompiled (new) eWriter viewer runs on Windows XP/SP3 and any newer Windows. That should be sufficient, now that Windows 7 support is ending. The eWriter viewer available from the Microsoft Store, however, is for Windows 10 only. Not that it wouldn't run on earlier Wind...

Hi James,

The Report Tool ("Full Project Report") does include the anchors with every topic, no matter if they have a context number or not.

Re: Magnify Effect applying wrong

Hi Kevin, You need to place the magnification area inside the picture rectangle . If you want to magnify something at the edge of the image (e.g. the first data field in your form), move the handle in the middle of the magnification filter. This handle determines the center of the magnification lens...

Re: Count number of times an Xplain has been viewed

You could implement this with a simple text object. If you don't want it to be visible, place it outside the viewport. 1) Insert a text object 2) Right-click that object, select "Edit HTML Source Code" 3) Supply the script of your choice. Alternatively, you can also include the script in the master ...

Re: Best format for offline use with Android phones

I don't mind if users have to have a specific epub reader in this instance. Please have a look at Simon's link to the EPUB 3.2 discussion. We are at the ready to implement EPUB 3.2 in Help+Manual, HelpXplain and eWriter as well, once it is typically supported by eBook readers. In theory, EPUB 3 is ...

Hello Ross,

The Delphi IDE context number editor was discontinued with Help+Manual v5 already. It is no longer maintained.
