Re: Ewriter file sizes?
Hi Tim: I tried the "Get Me Started" example, and it generates a 2.3Mb CHM and 2.8Mb EWriter. I checked that it was using the same settings as in my own help file. One possible factor - my help file was originally generated several H&M versions ago, and has gone through several H&M...

Re: Ewriter file sizes?
Hi Tim: I do have a lot of images in the file, but none of them show as "embedded" in the full report. They're listed under "Pictures" in the topics; i.e.: ------------------------------------------------------ Windows Topic Class: (Default) Keywords: Language Minimize to Tray Op...

Re: Ewriter file sizes?
Hi Tim: No luck - I changed the options to match the CHM with only a minor change in the .ewriter file size. Tried modifying all of the options on that page individually; still ended up with an .ewriter 4x the size of the CHM. Tried modifying all of the other options I could find, still ended up wit...

Re: Ewriter file sizes?
Hi Tim:
Even when I don't embed the viewer, the *.ewriter file is still 4x larger than the *.chm file. Is that expected?

Ewriter file sizes?
Using H&M 8 and PP 4.02 I've been experimenting with the Ewriter format. I have a help file that compiles to a 5.5Mb CHM file. In Ewriter format it's 23Mb (27Mb with the viewer embedded). Why is the Ewriter format 4x larger? It's hard to justify doubling the size of my installer just for a switc...

Web help page titles
I am using "Webhelp, iFrames Responsive, White-Grey.hmskin", and Google says my titles are too long. Looking at the page titles, they're getting the breadcrumb trail inserted before the title, i.e. it comes out looking like this: Topic > Subtopic > SubSubtopic > This is the title I really ...

Re: Google de-indexing?
That's not the problem. I'm using SEO friendly URLs on the web site (which Google indexes just fine), and the web help URLs are created by H&M, not Joomla.

Re: Google de-indexing?
Googlebot is indexing 1000+ pages per day on my site, but none of them are the webhelp pages. Most of the activity is with the Xenforo forums (which have 20K+ messages, and all but about 10 are indexed) and the remainder is the front page, product pages, and landing pages (another 50 or so pages; al...

Re: Google de-indexing?
Yes. The robots.txt hasn't changed for several months (and doesn't reference the help directory), and the only way noindex tags could be getting in there is if H&M were inserting them (it isn't).

Google de-indexing?
I have online help (about 1,200 pages) at my website built with H&M 6.03 and a PP 1.52 skin. Google had been indexing almost all of the help pages until about a 4-6 weeks ago, when they started dropping pages every day. (According to the Google Webmaster Tools sitemaps page.) Now there's only a ...

Web help formatting question
Using H&M 6.0.1 & PP 1.50 I'm using the 3-frame web help setup. I want to add a UserVoice feedback tab (vertical, in the middle left margin of the content frame). But I need to increase the left margin for the help text so the UserVoice tab doesn't potentially overwrite help text (but withou...

Re: Web help problem
I was eventually able to get build 2310 by switching from FF to Chrome. Installed it, deleted all the web help files, rebuilt web help & uploaded it to my web site, and it still has the problem with ignoring the + and - buttons. (Yes, I did flush my cache first.)

Re: Web help problem
Something's wrong with that link -- I've downloaded & installed it twice now, and both times wound up with the same 6.0.0 build 2305 I had before.

Web help problem
Using H&M 6, build 2305, and PP 1.50. I'm having an odd problem with topics in a merged project not responding to clicking on the '+' button in the generated web help. Clicking on the topic name opens the topic, but the '+' and '-' have no effect. No problem with the buttons in the main project....
