Re: Help and Manual 7 Extremely Slow to Start.

Hi Tim,

I doubt it's the hard-drive as it's brand new. However, I'll give Hard Disk Sentinel a try, just in case.

Thank you for telling me about it.

Re: Help and Manual 7 Extremely Slow to Start.

Hi Tim, Sorry for taking so long to respond. I was dragged into another project which took up all of my time for the last couple of months. So I deleted the registry settings and started HM7 twice but no change. No network drives are used, no VPN, nothing done over Internet connection, no embedded i...

Help and Manual 7 Extremely Slow to Start.

I haven't used H&M 7 for a few months. When I started it today it took just over 11 minutes to go from the splash screen to the main screen. I tried it a few times and the same thing. So then I uninstalled and reinstalled it. Same result. I tried running it as administrator but that made no diff...

Re: Text to Speech Engine.

Hi Steve, You might also want to try this service: https://ttsmp3.com/ The voices sound pretty good and it has the advantage that it can save directly to MP3, which eliminates the fiddly recording operations. I haven't tried it yet, but they have controls for things like breaks, emphasis, speed and...

Re: Text to Speech Engine.

I don't remember the website, but I think it was https://ttsreader.com/ - but there are certainly more than this one. The website offers detailed selection of text-to-speech languages, depending on the web browser you open it with. With Microsoft Edge you get the Microsoft voices and when viewed wi...

Text to Speech Engine.

Hi,

In one of the HelpXPlain examples "Fun with audios" it has a voice over. In the credits it says "The girl's voice has been recorded from the text-to-speech engine of Google Chrome."

Can I ask which specific engine and voice were used?

Thanks,

Steve

Individual Skins.

Is it possible to purchase individual skins? I like the Advanced Compact Skin in the Premium Pack 4, but I don't have any need for the other skins.

I was thinking about creating a H&M project as a Knowledge Base and the Advanced Compact Skin would be ideal for that.

Thanks.

Re: Blurring Sensitive Information.

I have a slide/screenshot selected but the Picture Tools tab doesn't appear. Hi Steve, Click in the spotlight (the lit part). That will select the image behind it, and the Picture Tools tab will appear. Then click the Image menu. The screenshot will come to the front for editing. Click Effect on th...

Re: Blurring Sensitive Information.

Hi Tim, I have a slide/screenshot selected but the Picture Tools tab doesn't appear. In the attached screenshot, I have the first slide/screenshot selected. I want to blur out the company name at the top, but there is no Picture Tools tab. Does that mean I have to add an image to the existing screen...

Blurring Sensitive Information.

When I create a screencast of several screens, how can I blur out parts of a screen that may contain private information?

For example, if there is an edit box that has someone's phone number, I may want to blur out that information.

Thanks.

Re: Does HelpXplain Work With Delphi VCL Apps?

It is not just the content of the Xplains that you can customize, you could also customize the player skin. We had a custom player skin with a permanent overlay in one of the corners, that implemented a link to our download page. The custom skins are explained briefly here: https://www.helpandmanua...

Re: Does HelpXplain Work With Delphi VCL Apps?

Ok, I worked out what the problem is. If the program you are screencasting is running in administrator mode (ie. the user selected Run as Administrator or if it's set to Run this program as an administrator under Properties/Compatibility ) then HelpXplain is unable to capture the mouse clicks. If H...

Re: Calling Context-Sensitive WebHelp from Microsoft Access.

Hi Tim, Thanks for the detailed explanation and background. If I had my way it would have been written in Delphi instead of Access, and the help would be in eWriter. :( But I'm limited by what the client wants, and they're the one paying for it. I'll have to have a talk with them and see how they wa...
