Gif and color reduction
Hi guys, Thanks for the replies. I also have Fireworks and Photoshop available to me, so I have no need to purchase more software - though thanks for the advice, it is excellent for others who currently do not have adequate image software. There was a post on this some time ago by someone else havin...

Saving Gif without losing colors
Please prioritise the ability to save GIF's without losing colors. Sometimes when I save as a .gif the colors are retained, other times they aren't. This is a randomness with the program it seems, as I've performed the exact same operation one day only to get different results the next day. Today I'...

Upgrading to H&M4.3
Thanks Tim. The company I'm currently contracting to has been sitting on my update request for 3 weeks (it requires remote network access to update, something I can't do locally). Until they invent the wheel and finally update my version to 4.3 I'll just have to sit tight by the sounds of it. In the...

Search engine descriptions
Hi Tim, Thanks again though I have to offer apologies as I don't think I was clear with what I was asking. Editing html is not a concern to me, nor is page rankings in search engines. All I want to do is ensure the description of each search result is relevant, and by doing so remove ALL possibility...

How to update images easily
I'm currently updating images within a user guide that are of poor quality. This process is proving to be more difficult than it should be. Heres what I"m experiencing: Scenario: I work 'in office' and 'remotely'. When I work remotely, I operate from a portable USB. Lately, when in office, I ha...

Search engine descriptions for Browser Based Help
I'm a little grey on how to optimise H&M4 Browser Based guides for search engines (I should add, I understand how search engines including Google index, just not how to use H&M4 to work with them). When I search in our LAN for the name of the user guide I am developing, it finds it straight ...

Linking images via drag and drop
My wish list item would be if images could be linked to topics the same way text can be (ie. drag and drop). In image intensive guides, this would be a HUGE time saver for the technical writer and enable an additional and easy method of improving user navigation.
Cheers!

Thanks for the reply Tim. My apologies - yes I am using the inbuilt editor for hotspots.... I have been using Impict for most of my image editing so it was a slip of the tongue there... I would still like an easier method of linking images, as I am involved in some fairly image intensive guides, but...

Easiest way to link images
I'm working on a browser based help guide that contains literally thousands of images, many small (eg. such as images of buttons, tabs etc). I want to be able to link these images to the topics that they refer to (for example, a picture of a certain tab should link to the topic that contains procedu...

Removing a standard windows image mouseover
When I roll my mouse over an image in a browser-based help guide, I get a mouseover rectangle with 4 icons on it (save this image, print this image, send this image via email, open my pictures folder). This obviously isn't a Help and Manual thing - I think it's a standard Internet Explorer thing. Th...

Shape tool causing background to go transparent
I'm having a weird problem that I could use some help with. I am converting an existing help guide into H&M. The screenshots already exist as gif's, however when I import them into help and manual they have transparent backgrounds. What I've been doing is editing them in impact and resaving them...
