Re: Can eBooks be displayed in a website?

Hi Tim, hi Julio,

Thanks to both of you for your responses. By the sound of it, it will require us to publish in two formats [ebook and webhelp] to do this with least burden on the user. Being a lazy bugger, not exactly what I wanted to hear, but certainly not insurmountable. :D

Can eBooks be displayed in a website?

Hi Tim, Curious about whether or not it is possible to run and display an eBook executable created in H&M in a web page. The reason I ask is that we would like an "online" version of our stuff, preferably using the same eBook file that we supply with the product. In other words the sam...

Re: How best to insert MS Excel content (for pdf publication

I have similar long-winded process for getting an excel sheet into H&M. The only reason I use xl is that it allows cell text to be vertical [dunno if this is possible in html], otherwise I would use a native H&M table. Pain in botty the way I do it - copy xl cells then paste into impict, cro...

Is this how search is supposed to work?

Hi Tim, Just a query about text searching in the editor. It appears as though when searching for a word [Write > Find & Replace], if that word has been modified in style [say, bolded], then it is not found by the search. Why is that? Can the search be a bit more clevererer in that one could spec...

Re: Swedish text in skin text variables cause HTML problems

Hi Tim,
Indeed they are, as I now know fully. Still, the potential is there, with no real warning, to bugger things up. As I now know fully. Perhaps those should not be "variables", coz they ain't really .

Re: Swedish text in skin text variables cause HTML problems

Hi Tim, This has been sorted thanks to my switched on colleague and by way of a heap of experimentation . Turns out that the "true" and "false" attributes need to be in EN. Otherwise, the javascript fails and the resultant output is no good. Curious; one may have thought that tho...

Swedish text in skin text variables cause HTML problems

Hi Tim, Swedish is one of the languages we publish in. For some reason, when I apply swedish text in the skin text variables, some things do not work properly in the output [HTML to ebook is the process]. Things being no vertical scrollbar or ability to scroll the output at all and the buttons for t...

Re: Toggle tables not respecting width settings.

Hi Tim, hi Martin, Thanks. Martin's 99% solution sounds a little more elegant and swallowable and if it does cure some of the other table anomalies [tables that have minds of their own] that occur every now and then, all the better :P. Still... :o Perhaps 99 is to be the new 100 in H&M, eh Tim? ...

Re: Toggle tables not respecting width settings.

Hi Tim, This is a bit of a problem for Wayne and myself and is concerning. We got lotsa-lotsa tables and lotsa-lotsa toggles. All will be affected in the output if the content does not stretch further than the available width. Admittedly it is aesthetic only, but it looks like poor form to users tha...

HELP - eBook "expiry" option not working

Hi Tim/Alexander, I have eWriter 1.0. Published ebooks from this version are bombing out today regardless of setting other dates in the expiry date field or when disabling the option altogether. This was brought up by an engineer currently implementing ebook help into one of our products. I checked ...

Re: FINAL BETA: New HTML-to-EXE eBook compiler for download

Hi Tim, Thanks very much, I appreciate your feedback. The fact that you have notioned to the possibility of remedying this in a future version is great. I think it would be a worthwhile investment in terms of useability and overall flexibility of the published ebook output. Here's hoping :). Here, h...

Re: FINAL BETA: New HTML-to-EXE eBook compiler for download

Hi Tim, I know for a fact that are those that want to print - perhaps not entire books, but certainly multiple sections as a "handy reference" this is the crux - being able to print a topic and its sub-topic in one operation, that's all that really matters . The actual issue is the additio...

Re: FINAL BETA: New HTML-to-EXE eBook compiler for download

Hi Tim, Thanks for replying. I hear you, but providing duplicated output in PDF is a bugbear we are currently battling and is exactly what we're trying to avoid :). Thing is, is that the ebook does provide a facility for printing and it would be a natural reaction from users as to wonder why the thi...
