Re: Changing the order of slides is awkward

Hi Kai, It's not strictly necessary to have the slides in running order in the list. In Slide Properties > Position & Timing on the right, you can set the Follow-Up Slide to follow a slide with any other slide. p.s. Alexander, that wording might be better as "Follow-On" rather than &qu...

Re: Copying formatted text

There is a (well hidden) HTML edit option in the right-click menu that opens a primitive HTML source editor. Thanks Alexander, I missed that. That's great. I have a lot of formatted callouts in videos which I want to update as Xplains. They are currently formatted as RTF but I can easily convert th...

Re: Spotlight shape

If 2 or more spotlights are added to a slide, each one greys over the other(s). I suspect there is no easy answer to this, because my screen recorder has exactly the same limitation. WRONG! I should have stopped to think. :) Multiple spotlights are quite easy, provided each one can be contained in ...

Try a transparent GIF object!

One of the great features of HX is that Picture objects are displayed using the imported image file unchanged. :) Which means that if the supplied shapes and callouts don't quite meet your need, you can easily create your own as a transparent GIF. Using your own drawing, or something from a clip-art...

Copying formatted text

The text editor in HX uses HTML for formatting. I know that because formatted text can be copied out of an object and pasted into a WYSIWYG HTML editor just fine. But there is no way back! It's not possible to paste formatted text into an object. In fact it is not even possible to copy and paste for...

Re: Roadmap for HelpXplain

Hi Sue, I'm glad you found the TWebBrowser idea helpful. :) There is of course a half-way house where TWebBrowser fetches your Xplain from the internet. This makes it easier to edit and update the Xplains without waiting for an upgrade to your app. Assuming your app users always have good internet a...

Access HelpXplain from H&M?

If HelpXplain is available on the system, I can right-click on an Xplain in the H&M topic editor, and Edit with HelpXplain... If I right-click on an image I can do Picture > Edit Picture with Impict... How about Picture > Convert Picture to Xplain... ? To launch HX and create an Xplain using the...

Re: Screencast spotlight size?

Alexander Halser wrote:I doubt one size will ever fit everyone's taste. They need individual adjustment.

I'm not suggesting one size will please everyone. Just an opportunity to set the general size for each screencast as a starting point. How difficult could this be: :)

Re: Screencast spotlight size?

OK, but can I change them all, in one go? No you cannot. And that's not really useful, either, is it? They have to have different sizes to highlight different areas of interest. Well obviously some specific ones may need changing. But I find that 1/4 of the capture dims is generally too large. Coul...

Re: Screencast spotlight size?

Alexander Halser wrote:The spotlights that are inserted automatically all have the same size: 1/4 of height or width, whichever is smaller. You must change the sizes manually after doing the screencast.

OK, but can I change them all, in one go?

cheers,

Re: Imported RTF but auto-gen Topic IDs are not human readab

+1 :)

I don't go near MS Office with a bargepole.

OpenOffice works just fine for me: https://www.openoffice.org/

Video in Xplain - now!

This deserves its own topic. We've just discovered in another topic that you can insert a short video in an Xplain -- if the "video" is created as an animated GIF. It has to be inserted as a Picture object added to an existing slide, it doesn't work as a separate slide. But it could cover ...

Tim, if I understand you correctly then it will become possible to embed a video? Hi Kai, Bingo! You can do that now -- if the "video" is created as an animated GIF. :) It has to be inserted as a Picture object added to an existing slide, it doesn't work as a separate slide. But it could ...

Re: Feature request: got to certain slide in preview

Hi Kai,

A preview always starts on the currently selected slide in the slide list.

So to preview at a specific slide, just start a fresh preview. You don't have to close the one running, it will update to the selected slide.

cheers,

Martin.

Re: Text input

In my case it does not help too much: I can achieve what I am looking for but it's cumbersome and time consuming. Hi Kai, While recording a screencast you can press the PrtScreen key to capture additional slides. If you do that after every character it would run very slow, but maybe after each word...
