Re: Explicit Page Break not working in v3.5.0 Build 1008

I have noticed having updated to 3.5.0 Build 1008 from previous versions of Help&Manual 3.x that the page breaks no longer work when compiling for PDF or print manual. Hi Dan, I'm not sure if this is relevant as I haven't yet tried 3.5, but in previous versions, if the page breaks are at the en...

Re: Inconsistent Line Spacing in PDF / Printing

...This looks nice in H&M. It also looks correct in CHM and standard Windows help. Hi Henning, Not for me it doesn't. That's because I have my screen set to 120dpi (sometimes called "Large Fonts") instead of the more usual 96dpi. 120dpi is a perfectly standard Windows setting (in Display Proper...

Mouse cursor not correctly captured.

My app uses several custom cursors for the mouse. In Paint Shop Pro they are correctly captured, but in TNT and H&M any "inverse video" elements are not recorded. See the attached screenshots. The cross-hairs at the centre are missing in the TNT version. The cursors were created using the Delphi...

Re: Small Caps

jaycee@AUT wrote:it would be great if Small Caps could be used in H&M.

In the meantime there are some all-caps fonts which can be set
up as custom styles (in Project Properties... > Style Sheets).
See for example the Copperplate Gothic font.

Re: Clipboard Format

SteveBarnett wrote:Is there any way I can control the format that TNT uses when I copy a screen shot to the clipboard?

Hi Steve,

In TNT, click the Edit > Copy (Reduced Colours) menu item
to reduce to an 8-bit (256 colours) bitmap on the clipboard.

H&M: e-book Simple Viewer stays on top

If the SimpleViewer(no TOC) viewer template is used for e-book output, and is set to start full-screen, the viewer loses focus but stays on top when internet links are clicked. So the linked page is initially invisible. This is true even when links are set to open in a new window. The StandardViewer...

Impict Shape Tool fails with white border

If a rounded rectangle or ellipse is selected in the Shape Tool,
and the border colour is set to white (e.g. for use on a dark or
coloured background), the shape tool fails to trim the image
to shape at the corners. :(

I assumed that the shadow tool "remembered" its settings from one session to the next, which it doesn't actually do. :? Hi Tim, But it's worse than that - it doesn't even remember from one object to the next within a session. Every time you add drop shadow to a new object it resets to the defaults....

Saving shadow settings

Hi, The Impict help says: Shadow Tool controls It's best to choose your shadow settings at the beginning of a project and then not change them again. But how do you set them? I can't find a Save Preferences or similar function. The shadow tool is available only when an object is selected. When I add...

Rich text in call-outs (was: font smoothing)

... One trick I sometimes use is to create a callout without any text, then I can antialias its outline. Then I create a text object with crisp, non antialiased text and position it over the callout. Hi Tim, Thanks for the tip. I hadn't realised what a massive improvement anti-aliasing makes to the...

I'll check if there's anything we could do better in Impict. ... ... Impict needs device independent true color bitmaps to create the transparency and shadow effects. Hi Alexander, Many thanks for the explanation. The transparency and shadow effects are brilliant, so if it takes a DIB to do that, I...

.... I'm not entirely sure, but I don't think I've ever seen a graphics program apply Windows font smoothing and then save it as a graphic.... Hi Tim, They often do. Attached for example is some text on a bitmap created by Windows Paint. My own graphics programs work the same way - the API DrawText...

I know it's not the same thing but that's what's available (screenshots aren't necessary...). However, since Windows font smoothing is not applied to objects like these we have to make do with anti-aliasing. :? I generally find that fonts in these objects look better if you don't use anti-aliasing ...

Martin, Select the object, then select Object > Anti-Aliasing... Thanks, Tim. But that's not quite the same thing. Windows font smoothing applies only to the curved parts of each TrueType character. Straight sections remain crisp. Anti-aliasing affects all parts of a character, with the result that...
