Karen, From what I've read, it's best to use 256 color bitmaps for the simple screen captures (and they will be converted to png in the CHM). However, many of our images are 3D simulations requiring high color. Reading through past posts, I've seen suggestions to use full color bitmaps and to use jp...

Darren, There is no hotspot editor in Impict and there hasn't been since the introduction of Help & Manual 4.x. There was one version of the Impict help for an H&M update that still had a description of the Impict hotspot editor in it but that was just an error in the help and if you have th...

There's no sorting function in the H&M editor except for TOC entries, so any sorting has to be done outside the program -- for example by cutting and pasting to Word and then back. This will keep formatting but it will strip any styles that will then have to be reapplied (the text will be "...

Hi "ExtraLean" or "HTH", If you are getting errors like this then there are almost certainly problems in your code -- not getting the errors locally is not a 100% guarantee that that is not the case. If you create a completely clean project without making any changes to your HTML...

Hi Susan, I'm attaching a shot of the help file so you can see what I'm talking about with the empty topics. That's exactly what I meant (I've deleted the screenshot to save space because it's not needed). Even though you can create a chapter that contains text in Help & Manual (the "book&q...

Hi "global.merch.writer", It's not really possible to answer your question without more details. "Glossary" is a pretty meaningless word on its own, there are hundreds of different ways to implement and format a glossary. It's not really possible to answer your question meaningfu...

Hi Susan, The problem with the images is probably just the image folders setting: Go to Project > Project Properties > Common Properties > Image Folders and make sure that the settings there are correct for the locations of the images used in your project. Also delete any folders that are not being ...

Hi Matthias, TNT has not yet been completely updated for Vista compatibility, there are a few problems, most of which can be worked around: The problems you describe are probably caused by setting a non-standard font size for the Windows user interface. If you return to the standard font size you sh...

Hi Karen,

Thanks for pointing this out, the .mnl file will be included in the download package in the future. I've put it on the forum server and you can download it here for now -- I'll take it down again as soon as the file is included in the download package.

Hi Tom, Both these issues are inherent limitations of toggles and they cannot be changed. The programmers say that the alternative would be to have toggles that would be either not work very well or would not be compatible with all browsers, and both of these are not acceptable options. You just hav...

A nice review of Help & Manual was just posted on the Free Downloads software site. The reviewer Charles Akin really took the trouble to have a good look at the product and has produced a very balanced an accurate review.

Hi Claus,

What exactly is the problem? All the links containing special Danish characters seem to work fine when I click on them (the actual links themselves do not contain these characters, H&M would not allow that).
