Hi CLse, Not too long ago, there was an announcement on this forum asking for experienced users to sign up to be H&M consultants. I think the plan was that H7M would help new users hook up with knowledgeable power users, who would offer consulting services independently of H&M. I don't know ...

Triple
Just goes to show: you learn how to do something one way and then you never even think to look for alternatives.
And it even includes the sticky notes!
Now, would it be possible to include the topic header...?

Thanks to both,
Dean

print single topic just for review

I know this has been discussed but want to bring it up again: For editing and review purposes, I would love an option to print a single topic from the editor without having to use a print manual template and that wouldn't included all the child topics or any of the linked-to topics. (Or that would g...

Hi Leonard, You might be able to make a global replace in XML. I tried H&M's regular search and replace, but it seemed to work only on the character value, ignoring font, so if your arrow is a webding glyph for A, you would wind up changing all instances of A in every font throughout your projec...

Hi tommygunner, The style tab for print output affects only the styles that apply to topic contents (Normal, bullets, code example, etc.). For header styles, you're right: The tab for print output is ignored and all styling is set in the PMD. It took me a while to realize that, too. Good luck...

Hi Tim, Regarding the javascript vulnerability I've edited my main template to use a non-scrolling header (as described in the DHTML example). I've also made the fix for the IE horizontal scrolling bug. If I reset my template, I'm going to have to redo all of this. Is there an easier way? :? Thanks,...

So far I haven't needed any fancy layouts in my PDF outputs -- at least, nothing fancier than what H&M can provide -- but that may be changing. Has anyone had success using a PDF editing tool to replace the covers and other "marketing" pages after H&M has compiled its PDF version? ...

Hi John,

Type a Shift-Enter to force a line break anywhere in the text, including in the headers. I haven't checked the output HTML code, but I believe it is translated directly to an html line break. It works in other output formats, too.

Enjoy the feast,
Dean

Hi Frank, It has been a while since I edited my own templates, but I seem to remember that, when you turn off the Forward section, you also have to go to the table of contents section and remove the band for the forward entry. Simply delete the Forward object and the page number object that goes wit...

I've assigned the Keep with Next command to a shortcut key (Alt+N) because I use it often. It does not appear to change any format settings other than Keep with Next, and it works like a toggle, switching the attribute on or off, depending.

The "Corners" concept is very interesting. An advantage is that it would train the newbies in the context of the normal dialog, helping to wean them from the Wizard mode more quickly. A disadvantage might be that the other corners being visible would prove distracting. Having them distinct...

Clicking after a comment and typing double backspace will also work. I sometimes have difficulty selecting the comment itself and find the double backspace easier. I agree 100% with the suggestion to have the Display as Icon checkbox remember the last setting. Either that or a preference I could set...

Two thoughts: If you identify steps and dialogs with clear titles, you can help the newbies, but if you make the titles too wordy, everyone feels talked down to. It's a balancing act, but I think there is a reasonable middle ground. Wizards can be very helpful to new users, but you have to make sure...
