Brian, There is no way that I know of to do this. This doesn't mean that it's not possible, I have just never ever heard of anyone trying to do it. You would have to do some research to find whether the HTML Help API includes facilities for making programmatic calls to the index, which would then pr...

Karen, You don't say whether the project is already a H&M project or not. However, even if it isn't you should be able to import it with Help & Manual and get all the existing context numbers along with the topics. Then you can easily delete any extraneous topics and move things around as yo...

Aline,

Just create a normal link to the current topic. Then double-click on the link to edit it and select the anchor from the Anchor in Topic list.

Alexander, Confirmed, thanks for reminding me of this. The problem with your workaround is that it creates two unnecessary empty pages. For example, if the last page is 17, using the workaround puts the Back Cover on 20, but it should really be on 18. I suggest posting a feature request in the Wish ...

Debbie,

The log file swithc is /L=, not /E=, that's the only problem. You can also use the same switch for eBooks but the log there won't contain much information, just any errors registered.

I'm getting nothing when attempt to download. Dean's right, it's a problem with Internet Explorer. Not only does it try to interpret the file as HTML when you click on the download link, it also changes the extension from .TXT to .HTM when you right-click on the link and select Save Target As... to...

Corseford, (I split your post off and moved it from Announcements to the Help & Manual 4 section.) I am sure you will get some responses from users on the forum as well. Generally, H&M provides extensive control for generating and formatting PDFs and you also have the added benefit that if y...

Hi Andy, I have no idea at all what Apache FOP is -- maybe someone else will be able to help you on that. :? Help & Manual can generate "page referrers" for the links within your document in PDF. These are small icons containing the page number on which the topic containing the target ...

Hi Alex, 1300 topics and 950 images sounds quite reasonable and I wonder about the 400 mb CHM size, too. In my experience the most common cause of this kind of problem is the combination of 1) Using all True Color images and 2) Setting image conversion to convert all images to PNG. If images have 25...

Martin, All image formats have to be converted to bitmaps before they can be displayed or printed. That's true, but neither of these applies when you are compiling. For example, GIFs, JPGs and PNGs are all simply copied to your output when you are generating HTML-based output. BMPs are just copied i...

Dean, Martin, I used H&M's screen capture utility to capture the forum's home page (login) as a BMP and as a GIF, both at 256 colors. Like WinHelp, PDF only understands BMP, so if you use GIFs H&M will convert them to BMP when you export to PDF. This doesn't have to be bad, but it does take ...

Hi Wolf, This is not a bug. It is caused by the way that H&M locates images, which is used to ensure that your projects will be portable. When you insert an image in H&M only the filename reference is inserted in the topic page, there is no path information. H&M finds the image by search...
