Dave,

You might want to post a detailed request to the Wish List section. I can't promise whether it will be implemented though... :?

Hi Flux, I got further information from the Help and Manual team and I'm confident we will find the best way to fix it soon. Yes -- the problem is that H&M is not translating the < and > characters in your TOC captions into the proper HTML entities, and the HTML Help viewer then tries to interpr...

Hi PG,

You probably have topic IDs that are exactly 31 characters long or multiples of 31 characters (62, 93 etc). Unfortunately, this is a problem. See this thread for a discussion of this issue and how to deal with it:

Hi Flux, The problem is caused by the TOC captions in your Function Tags chapters. These use the same format as H&M text variables but since there are no variables defined the captions are getting passed to the HTML Help compiler as-is. It seems that the HTML Help compiler is gagging on this cha...

Hi Hendrik, This can happen quite easily depending on how the pages in your CHM are structured. What you need to do is to play with the "HMTL Help Import Options" in the last screen of the import wizard. There is an option called "Try to split HTML topics files into header and body&qu...

Flux, When you say it's not the "security issue" I assume that you mean that you are not trying to open the CHM on a network drive, right? If you are trying to open it on a network drive see here for an explanation of the problem. Other than that, more information is needed: Is this projec...

Hi Christoph,

The programmers tell me that for technical reasons undo in the TOC is not possible at the moment, it just can't be implemented.

Hi Luba, Confirmed, this appears to be a bug. It will be investigated as soon as possible. There is no simple workaround -- the only way to solve this would be to put the toggle in a table and insert a caption under it manually, but then you would have to remove the tables again after the problem is...

Hi Kathrin, It's not possible to define a build itself via the command line, e.g. select which topics are part of the build. That wouldn't even be possible in theory, let alone in practice. Even within Help & Manual you have to make your build selections in the editor, there is no other way to d...

Hi Don, As always, Microsoft's problem is their obsession with backward compatibility. Since they are so unwilling to abandon anything old out of fear that some little old lady in Hoboken might no longer be able to run her Windows 3.0 dog exercise schedule program, most of their new technologies end...

Don, There is clearly something incompatible happening somewhere. The simplest solution is to send in the project for checking. Just pack both the .HMX project file into a ZIP or RAR archive and mail it to support AT ec-software.com (replace the AT with @). Please don't include any graphics or other...

Perhaps the development team could put it in the help manual on the next release? Workarounds like this are difficult to include in the help, which is oversized enough as it is. In addition to this, the whole question of access to external and internal files in CHMs is fraught with difficulty, as y...

Hi Surtron, As far as I understand it, you want to embed DOC, PDF and XML files in your CHM and create links to them so that your users can click on them in the CHM to "download" and open them out of the CHM. This is very easy to achieve in Help & Manual: Place all the files you want t...
