Michael, That sounds strange. I think we need a little more information here. Did you only make changes to the text in your topics or also to the hotspots in the images? Did you make any changes to your directory structure when editing the project? Also, what format is your help in -- HTML Help, bro...

Hélène, If you want to edit the objects in your image again later you must save your image in Impict's own .IPP format. This is the only format that saves all the objects on separate layers. This is exactly the same as working in PhotoShop -- there if you save in BMP or TIFF you will also lose all y...

John,

I just reproduced this reliably on Windows 2000 (SP4) with the latest version of H&M. It definitely happens. I'm passing a note on to Alex...

Sorry, you can't. H&M doesn't support any languages with two-byte characters. Also, only left-to-right text entry is supported. :(

There is currently no way that H&M or any other program can stop users from copying from the "standard" systems like HTML Help, browser-based HTML and WinHelp. These standards are not defined by H&M but by Microsoft and the HTML standards committee. Making these changes would mean ...

Do you have a dual monitor setup? Screen captures can be rather quirky with such systems...

Erm...why do you want security settings on help documents at all? I mean, there's nothing to protect really -- all the content is there to read, and if you're using WinHelp or HTML Help the users can't change the documents anyway. Or are you talking about user access to the H&M Program?

The only solution for this is to increase the resolution of your monitor. Right-click on the desktop, select Properties / Settings and then increase the resolution with the slider or entry fields (how it looks depends on which version of Windows you are using). IMPORTANT: Check that your monitor can...

John, Thanks for the reminder on this. This smells like an XP-related problem that only crops up under certain special circumstances. Since both you and John have now experienced it, it might be helpful to find similarities in your hardware configurations. Since lots of people are now using XP there...

I haven't checked this myself yet, but there is one question: What image format are you using for your maps in H&M? You must use the Impict .IPP format for your compiled output to work properly. If you use the Microsoft .SHG format it won't work.

John, Agreed, but on a modern drive with many applications that page out massively without telling you (and often don't expect to ever run up against disk space constraints) I would still tend to feel that under 200mb is actually getting pretty low. Although it does depend on the type of programs yo...

It sounds like there is no ready, program-type fix. Sure seems like a great opportunity for some program designer. Oh, I think there's quite a lot of stuff out there, it's just a question of finding something that's suitable for your needs and can be deployed without extreme time, costs and learnin...

Jared, So how do professional writers who need to have work edited, reviewed and authorized, manage to keep track of lots of ongoing work? There are quite a few different methods but what they all have in common is Draconian, uncompromising discipline. The most commonly-used method, and a recipe for...

John, Even if it doesn't have anything to do with this particular problem, make space on your system drive and/or get a bigger drive. It will blow up in your face eventually, generally when you least need it. Transferring to a new hard drive just takes a few minutes now that there are products like ...

John, Sorry, have to pass on this one. I've never heard of anything like it, it sounds totally bizarre. Are there any other circumstances that might have something to do with it? The only thing I can think of offhand are the "Builds which include this topic" options, but I can't really see...
