Re: Topics within Child Projects
Hi Epohl, Is there any way around this (other than re-naming topics) ? No, when you use modular projects you have to take steps to avoid duplicate topic IDs and help context numbers. Please see this chapter in the help for details: More Advanced Procedures > Working with Modular Help Systems > Manag...

Unfortunately, you don't provide enough information so it's very difficult to answer you helpfully. What is not working? What is happening and how do you want it to work? What would you like to configure differently? Most search problems in CHMs are caused by problems with the Microsoft HTML Help Co...

Aaron,
Your problem is Microsoft Windows, not H&M3 or 4. New security restrictions in Windows make it impossible to open CHMs across networks, it is simply no longer permitted by Windows. See here for more details and possible solutions:

Alexander, Martin is right and my earlier post on this subject that you refer to was incorrect. You can't apply build options to XML at all, it is really a save format and it would actually be better not to include it in the Compile dialog. Sonia, It is now clear what the problem was. This was an XM...

Hi Robert, This is not possible with the Embedded Topics function -- that can only source topics from the current project. Quite a few users have asked for this so it is already on the Wish List, but I can't say whether or when it might be implemented -- the programmers say that there are a lot of v...

Joe, I finally got around to checking and correcting the error in the script today. It was very simple: The height is calculated by subtracting the header height from the body height. If the user tries to make the viewer window so small that you can no longer see the topic at some point the header i...

Hi Sonia, At the moment XML export always includes the entire project, irrespective of the build settings -- you can really think of it more as an alternative save format than an export format. (In a future version XML will be the primary save format.) You can use the Insert > Comment/Bookmark funct...

This is already possible. If you insert a GIF image directly it is not changed at all, it is exported again as the same GIF image in all output formats that support GIFs, including Browser Help. This also works with animated GIFs, which are exported exactly as they are. If you are getting a PNG vers...

Vladimir, This is not a bug, it is the correct XHTML syntax. Also, all UTF-8 encoded files must contain these three bytes at the beginning of the file. This is the Byte Order Mark (BOM) that is required to identify Unicode/UTF-8 encoding. The compiler error message simply means that you are using an...

Kim, Don't double-click on it, the .js extension is probably associated with a program that is trying the run the JavaScript file and that will fail. You need to open it in a plain-text editor like Notepad. Just open Notepad and then select File > Open and open the file. Then you will be able to edi...
