I'm not using russian characters in topic's id's. I'm talking about the left part of the window in chm, there are topics. popup topic's also don't contain russian characters. Then I'm afraid I don't know what your problem is. You wrote that popup topics without Russian characters in their "nam...

So Tim's idea might be best for both. Still, I'm not sure what to set in the help itself to change conditions on the fly, so that help topics are either available or not depending on the client installation. This will not be possible. There's no way you can switch parts of the TOC of the finished h...

Elmira, I can only repeat: You do not need to use Russian text in your popup topic names or topic IDs! The names of topic IDs are never seen by the user so it doesn't matter what characters you use for them. If you use normal ASCII characters ( a..z , 0..9 and _ , no other characters) you will not h...

Hi Ed, This is already possible, and the solution is much better than a footer. Just select "Undock Topic Options" in the View menu. To redock just double-click on the title bar of the undocked window. You can also undock the TOC and all of Help & Manual's menus. To undock a menu just ...

Ed, This is already possible with modular projects and conditional output. What you do is include external project you want to merge in as a module. You insert it in the TOC in the same way that you would insert a normal topic with Add Item , but then you select the option # Include another help fil...

Hi Elmira, Do you still get the problem if you only use non-Russian characters for both the name and the topic ID of your popup topics? If you do then please send your project to support for checking. Just pack the .HMX project file into a ZIP or RAR archive and mail it to support AT ec-software.com...

My question though, is there a way, either through using H&M or perhaps some JavaScript, that I can have a .chm file automatically recognize and set the size depending on users monitor resolution? You can certainly check the resolution of the user's monitor with JavaScript but you probably can'...

Hi "Snoopy", In PDF output tables can only break at row boundaries so if you have a single cell with a lot of content it will get truncated if it extends beyond the end of the page and the rest of the topic will not be printed. You must ensure that your table cells are all small enough to ...

It's impossible to say what the problem might be with such a small amount of information. First of all, create a new test project with a couple of short dummy texts and make sure that you can compile a functioning WinHelp file. If this works then the problem is in your RTF source. If this is the cas...

Elmira, when I change name of the topic to the russian one, it doesn't work. Are you referring to the caption in the TOC or the topic ID? Russian topic IDs cannot work you must use standard ASCII characters. Since the captions are not displayed in your output in popups the easiest solution here woul...

Martin, Update: Nothing has changed. What is happening is that the topic is defined as a popup. If you are using JavaScript popups it is exported to the popup .JS file, so it is there but not accessible unless you link to it. The same thing happens in CHMs with JavaScript popups -- it's there, but i...

Martin,

Hmmm... Thanks for noting this. This seems to have been changed since I wrote the help. I just tested it with CHM and the source topics in invisibles are no longer included unless there is an active link to them. I'm going to have to check this with Alex and possibly update the help... :?

This is not really possible because Help & Manual is a multi-output tool and it is not possible to create a realtime preview for eight completely different formats. However, you can already quickly preview your formatting and layout by compiling with the "Selected Topics" option in the...

Elmira, Does this happen with every project or just this one project? Try creating a small test project with a simple JavaScript popup -- do you have the same problem? If you don't then you may have a problem with something in the one project. Try deleting the popup topic and re-creating it. If you ...
