Re: Table Row Locking - is ther a way to acheive this with H

I have a rather large table that is a fixed width and the users want it dislpayed as just one page, so this means scrolling across and down, but locking the top few rows will aid the scrolling down/up navigation so they know what coumn they are looking at etc. Hi Ross, Looking at your screenshot, i...

Re: Shortcut keys toggle font attribute changes for 1 charac

Hi Dean, Although you have posted this in the "Wish List", I would regard it as a bug and worthy of the Bug Reports -- you might get a faster result! I can see no logical reason why the formatting shortcuts should require multiple characters to work as toggles. If there is a good reason, i...

But when I am in the act of typing, the key only toggles on: I am typing a word, I toggle superscript on, I type the one superscript letter, then I press the shortcut again - superscript does not turn off. Hi Dean, You're right -- if you type only one superscript character. If you type more than on...

Re: Toggle superscript on and off

Unfortunately, the shortcut does not act like the Ctrl+B on/off toggle for Bold font or Ctrl+I for Italic. It turns superscript on but it doesn't turn it off. Hi Dean, :?: It's toggling ok for me. Try using a shortcut which does not use the arrow keys -- Windows treats these differently from other ...

I sometimes wonder if the developers do it for the express purpose of making it less likely that users will want to change to a different product. Hi Dean, Well, I'm a developer, and my approach is simple. I provide whatever means for doing a task seems to me to be the most logical , without any re...

Re: Assigning styles to imported rtf file

I imported a heavily formatted manual I had created in Word. All formatting was via styles. From the required RTF, H&M faithfully imported the formatting, but not the styles. The topic structure created by H&M required very little tweaking. However, I am left with a document that has no sty...

selling a product like H&M on a CD would only make the product a lot more expensive without bringing any additional benefits for the user. On the contrary -- the user would then be likely to reinstall from the original CD, which would be a disadvantage because it would mean installing an obsole...

Thanks for the tip. But, I rarely use the Ctrl+Backspace to delete a word (backward), although once in a while it is useful. What I am really missing is the opposite command to delete to the end of the word. Hi Ray, Why would you want to delete to the end of the current word? If you have just typed...

Hi Ray, Thanks. By the way, where did you find this? :?: I did what everyone does when faced with a new piece of software -- I clicked every menu item and pressed every key combination to see what happened. My experience is that Help files, including those I write myself, are of little use until you...

Re: Navigating to previous/next topics using the keyboard

Hi All, Is there a way to navigate to the previous/next topics (in the table of contents) by using the keyboard. What I want to do is have the cursor focused on some particular field (the keywords list for example on the Topic Options page) and then use the keyboard to move me to the previous/next ...

Hi Ray,

Ctrl+Backspace deletes a word, or deletes to the beginning of the current word.

Hi John, Dean, Thanks for the explanation. I knew I was missing something! Don't forget tables. When I want things to stay stuck together my usual instinct is to put them in a single-cell table. Table handling is one of the best features of the RVF editor. Essentially every table cell is a complete ...

Re: Where ARE Styles held?

The help makes clear that, unlike MS Word, styles are not held in the paragraph marker, but where ARE they held? Hi John, I know nothing about MS Word, but in H&M you can regard the paragraph mark at the end of the preceding paragraph as the flag "containing" the paragraph style infor...
