So the problem is actually in Acrobat Reader or, to be exact, in the Active-X plugin of Acrobat Reader. I never had any problem with this plugin except that I find it annoying that it displays an empty white page until the PDF file is fully downloaded (this confuses many users). That's why we wrap t...

You are right, the case does not matter in this case. I tried upper/lowercase for the other files and both work. This must be a server problem, that's for sure. But I'm not a server and network guru. I guess you double-checked whether the file really exists. There is just one difference I found in t...

Did you check the file name for case sensitivity?
If you run a UNIX or Linux server, upper/lowercase matters!

Sounds as if you use an older version of EHS. We changed one important detail regarding HTML Help and THelpRouter: previous versions used the main window handle of the application in the call to the HTML Help API. Version 1.40 does not. It rather uses 0 as the window handle. This results in a slight...

In SHED is it a limitation of Winhelp: HLP files only support rectangular hotspots. The integrated image editor Impict in Help & Manual supports hotspots, too. However, Impict is also limited to rectangular hotspots but this is a limitation of Impict, because HTML allows non-rectangular hotspots...

Yes, I appologize. The "apply layout" items of the text editor's context menu don't work in this version. We are about to fix it, together with another small non-critical bug. The corresponding items in the main menu work and so do the keyboard short cuts. I am really sorry for the inconve...

It is valid HTML. The onMouseOver event calls a JavaScript with a string as the parameter. This could be any string and any function, it's not malicious code per se. I understand that Symantec must change the HTML source code to prevent the browser from executing possibly dangerous HTML code. They h...

I am happy that you found the source of the problem. Please tell Symantec that this is clearly a bug in Norton Personal Firewall . It obviosly doesn't regard the single quotation mark which separates the parameter string from the command. The different (double vs. single) quotation marks probably co...

That's pretty strange and I am quite sure that this has nothing to do with Windows XP. Do you perhaps use an odd browser plugin that validates the HTML source code before the browser displays it? MSIE may ignore some JavaScript code (you never know) but it must not change it. Help & Manual expor...

There is just one little enhancement I would wish for, an ability to specify /I parameters in hex. You can actually do that, it works with hex numbers, too. But for non-programmers, decimal numbers are easier to deal with. Hex <> Decimal /I=0x04......../I=4 (HTML Help) /I=0x08......../I=8 (Winhelp)...

What I would prefer to do is use user-defined text variables in some kind of conditional or indexed way If you start Help & Manual with command line parameters for batch compilation, you can supply a variable list (a simple text file) that temporarily replaces the values of the text variables i...

I have to check this out. Could be that we have a bug here in THelpRouter. The CHMPopupTopics property was earlier used to specify the internal text file for plain text popups (not mixed mode) to make THelpRouter compatible with other help authoring tools, too. As a workaround, please use the same f...

This is defined by the HelpType property of the HelpRouter component. Simply set it to "htMixedMode" and set the name of HelpRouter.CHMPopupTopics to the HLP file name.
