Hi Nigel, Hmm... this should have been solved. Try going to Project Properties > Adobe PDF > Font Embedding and set CID Font Mode: to CID Off. Please let us know if this corrects the problem (it should actually work properly now with CID set to Unicode even for non-Asian languages, this is why I'm a...

Hi Garth, This non-scrolling template was earlier stated to be for HM4 only. Is there a version (or other solution) for HM3 that solves the multi-topic printing problem in CHM files? There is actually no reason why they shouldn't also work in Help & Manual 3. I've made the necessary changes and ...

New NS-header adapted for H&M 3

There is actually no reason why the new non-scrolling headers developed for Help & Manual 4 shouldn't work in Help & Manual 3. I've now made the necessary changes and the result is attached to this post. This is a drop-in replacement for the standard Help & Manual 3 template, using it co...

Hi Thack,

Welcome to the forum! Don't worry, you'll find that once you "get" the basic philosophy behind Help & Manual the solutions to what seem to be problems will become increasingly obvious to you. It takes a little time but it gets easier and easier as you progress. Have fun! 8)

Hi Zeenat, This sounds like either a CID Font Mode or a printer driver problem. First go to Project Properties > PDF > Font Embedding and turn CID Font Mode: to "CID Off". If this doesn't help you need to check your reference printer driver. Whenever you have problems with PDF output the f...

Hi Ivka, This is really strange. Just to be sure, please check your HTML Help compiler with the procedure explained here: http://helpman.it-authoring.com/viewtopic.php?t=4821 If this doesn't work please pack your .HMX file (just the .HMX, no graphics!) into a ZIP or RAR archive and mail it to suppor...

Ivka, It's definitely not related to the number of topics. It sounds like there is something wrong with that single topic. Make sure that the topic ID does not contain any illegal characters (only use 0..9, a..z and _ in topic IDs, no other characters). If that doesn't work copy the text of the topi...

Thack, My guess is that you accidentally formatted the text background as white instead of the text, that would have that effect -- either by selecting the wrong color picker in the toolbar (they're right next to each other) or by using Borders & Backgrounds for the background color instead of a...

Dean,

Use a little graphic for the product name instead of text and add it to your picture shortcuts. This will work quite well unless the PDF gets displayed at an inflated size.

RTF is an ancient format and internally it is very dumb. When you embed images you have to embed every image separately, incuding twenty repetitions of the same image, there is no way to tell RTF that it should refer to the same image more than once in the same document. Since help files frequently ...

Bob, Nothing is wrong. the Normal+ display simply indicates that the paragraph you are reformatting contains manually-applied formatting, possibly because it is imported formatted text (imported formatting is applied as manual formatting until you integrate it into your H&M stylesheet, for examp...

Hi Dean, I just tested for this again using the latest version (1127) and it still occurs. Yes, unfortunately the editor programmers (it's a bug in the editor engine) have not yet managed to correct it. We also don't have a date for when it's going to be fixed at the moment. It will be fixed, but th...
