Re: Hide Navigation section

You don't need to remove this and you really shouldn't. Select a subtopic in the contents and you will see what it's for. It helps your users to know where they are, and when they are deep in a chapter it displays a row of "breadcrumb" links that allow them to navigate up in the current ch...

Premium Pack 5.2 update released

The 5.2.0 update to the Help+Manual Premium pack is now available. This release contains some minor fixes and some important new features. The tool for publishing with the current skin in Toolbox now includes support for eWriter publishing, and a couple of bugs introduced by updates to Help+Manual h...

Re: Translating SnipSVG

Simon_Dismore wrote: Fri Mar 01, 2024 6:22 am How do I change the underlying screenshot while preserving the blur overlay?
This isn't currently possible because you can't access the effects objects without "opening" the bitmap, and you can't replace the bitmap while it's open for cropping or effects editing.

Simon_Dismore wrote: Wed Feb 28, 2024 3:50 pm But currently the blur is permanent in the SnipX file too.
It's an overlay. Double-click on the bitmap and you can then adjust or delete the overlay.

Re: Translating SnipSVG

Hi Simon, At least in SVG, having the blur and pixelate effects hard-baked is a feature because it ensures that the hidden information can never be recovered. If the user needed to "un-overlay" it there would be a very high risk of information leakage in production images. If you save as S...

Re: Best practices for linking to anchors?

Hi Marc, Broken anchors for links that are still OK as far as the topic is concerned aren't flagged automatically within the project. However, as soon as you publish you will get warnings in the compiler report that links refer to a missing anchor, along with links to the affected topics so that you...

Re: Content reflow

Hi Taylor,

If you avoid tables and only use images formatted for responsive behavior (Width: % of page width, maximum is physical width") then it should work fine in WebHelp.

Re: Search path to Xplains

Hi Carol Ann, This interim update of version 9.4.2 will solve this problem: https://www.helpandmanual.com/download/help-and-manual-setup-v942.exe Important: You must delete ALL files and subfolders in the WebHelp folder, locally and on your web server, before applying this. Otherwise the old files w...

Re: Search path to Xplains

Hi Carol,

Update: I've done some testing on this and the search is actually returning results to the Xplain subfolder, and this is having an unwanted effect in this particular group of skins. We'll have to look into improving this.

Carol_Ann wrote: Wed Feb 21, 2024 11:16 am We are not using the full Zoom indexer. Can we leave it like that for now?
Yes, of course. But it's a little odd that Xplains are being included in the search results. Their WebHelp subfolder should be automatically excluded in the current version of Help+Manual.

Re: Search path to Xplains

OK. Are you using the full version of Zoom instead of the embedded version in Help+Manual?

Re: Search path to Xplains

Hi Carol,

The search should actually not look in Xplains at all, because they are not searchable. What version of Help+Manual and your WebHelp skin are you using?

Re: Crash/hang-up on second monitor

Hi John, If you get a bug report prompt when this happens it would be very helpful if you could send it. That would make it possible to focus in on what is actually happening here. The problem, however, will be the number of slides in your project. Currently, an Xplain is a single HTML page and ALL ...

Re: Crash/hang-up on second monitor

Hi John, I've never seen this and my own desktop setup is effectively the same as yours, but the other way round: I have a 4K primary monitor and a legacy secondary monitor, Windows 10. I use HelpXplain almost exclusively on the lower-resolution secondary monitor and never have problems. However, I ...
