Meena, I suggest you zip a copy of your project (just the .HMX file without any graphics or other files) and mail it to EC Software support at support [AT] ec-software.com with a description of the problem so that they can analyze it. Also include your purchase details, that generally speeds things ...

Matthew, I can't really say anything about this, except that I've never seen it myself in connection with styles. It's possible that it was caused by interaction with something particular in your software or hardware configuration. However, I can say that in all the months I've been working with H&a...

No, only Flash videos can be embedded in CHM files. However, a creative Australian company called Swish produces a product called SwishVideo that can convert normal video to Flash, which you could then embed in your CHM. I'm not sure what formats it can handle but you might want to give it a try. ww...

Andrew, I've forwarded your question to the EC programmers as well as I suspect a more technical answer will also be necessary. You may be able to gain some improvement by checking your image conversion settings in Project Properties > HTML Help > HTML Export Options (the same settings are also avai...

JL, The XML export and import will be a "round-trip" function that will make it possible to export a project, edit it in another program (primarily for translating the text into another language) and then re-importing it to H&M with all the original project properties intact. The XML f...

George, If you add navigation button images in simple mode (i.e. with Edit HTML Code switched off) you should be able to save the settings and compile without any problems. Are you using images stored on a local drive, and do you have full write access to the drive and directory containing the image...

Mina, This error occurs when the compiler cannot locate one of the source files. This only happens in H&M if you are referencing external HTML files manually, for example by adding them to the Extended .HHC Settings in the Project Properties for HTML Help. Without further information on what exa...

Dave, This is a small bug in the converter. It should be converting the variable names to the new format <%VARIABLENAME%> and in some cases it is not doing that. If you just add the % character before and after the variable name it will work. (If you look in Project Properties > Common Properties > ...

Suzette, In HTML Help you can only display graphics in dual mode popups or JavaScript popups -- the native HTML Help popups are plain text only and any graphics the topics contain are just ignored. Dual-mode popups use Winhelp for the formatted popups, generating a separate Winhelp .HLP file for the...

Graham, CHMs don't route calls through the master files to the child files, this is a general restriction of the format. If you are using runtime merging you must call the child files directly to access any topics they contain. You can still display the help with the entire TOC when you do this by u...

Sarah, You don't need to even think about the .HPJ file. It's only used for generating the help and doesn't need to be distributed to the customer or anywhere else. Normally it's deleted automatically after you compile, unless you disable the "Delete temporary files" option in the Compile ...

Re: Leading dots in table of content

Mirtma, In the standard templates the leading dots are implemented with multiple objects. You have one object for the heading text, without dots, and one object for the page number with leading dots. You need to adjust the width of these objects -- specifically the width of the page number object wi...
