Another problem with 4.2RC2 (1033). Many thanks for MOTW :) , but... In IE6 used on local files, if javascript is disabled (IE Security setting = High) and MOTW is included in H&M, the screenshot toggles are displayed as thumbnails only, and won't expand. Without MOTW, and "blocked content&...

RC2?

Hi Tim, In particular, the problem experienced with toggles when exporting to XML and re-importing has been corrected. :? Not here it hasn't. HelpMan.exe 4.2.0.1033 modified 04-Nov-2006 16:27:40 The problem is that this original code in the XML: src-collapsed="hmtoggle_plus0.gif" src-expan...

If you have the Professional version of H&M4 there's a much easier way to merge projects by using XML Hi Tim, Frank, I didn't mention that because if you are using 4.2RC1 you should avoid XML like the plague. The reason is that it wrecks any toggles you have inserted, with no way of getting the...

Re: Merge source files?

I simply want to merge two source files into one. I guess you could also say I want to import all the topics from one source file into another. Hi Frank, If you want to continue working with both source files, but also produce a combined version, see Modular Projects in the Help: http://www.helpand...

The confusion around XML arises because it is listed as another "output format". This is wrong. XML isn't an output from the project, it is a save of all or parts of the project. As such it would be better listed under File > Save As... or File > Export as XML than under Compile Help File....

Re: Page width

Is there any way to define a global page/paragraph width to control the wrapping of text? It appears that the paragraph width is always as wide as the Help window. I know I could put everything in tables, but I'd rather not. Hi Jerry, You didn't say which output format you are talking about! If you...

Re: You're a good man, Charlie Brown.

Hi Tim, Thanks for removing my label. But I was speaking only for myself, I wasn't suggesting that you should remove everyone else's! Hi Jonathan, Now I just have to put a post-it note on my screen next to Martin's posts with MVP on it in big bold letters. It'll be a pain to keep moving it a...

Re: Ideal backup tool for H&M: AJC Active Backup

Basically, you just tell Active Backup which directories you want to monitor and which file types you want to keep backed up. For Help & Manual that would be *.HMX , all the graphics file formats you use and any other file types you might be storing externally, like your own JavaScript files, C...

Hi Tim, "H&M MVP" is a play on the "MS MVP" moniker. It stands for "Most Valued Professional" in as in the Microsoft Version it does not mean people who work for the company but independent individuals who make a very valuable contribution to the user community. And...

My apologies, Martin: I was under the mistaken impression that you were an H&M representative. Wow! How many others on this forum think that? I'm not at all pleased to have that "H&M MVP" under my name on the forum, even if I could remember what it meant! Before that it used to sa...

Re: HTML above table of contents in browser based help

What I want to know how to do is shut off the frames so the link completely shuts down the html help when the user clicks on the link back to my web site. Hi Ray, To replace the Help with your own web site, use: <a href="http://www.vmtsoft.com" target="_top">VMT Home Page</a> To...

Given that this functionality isn't in RC1 of version 4.2, how long is "a bit longer" realistically going to be? Search/Replace styles is the one big thing lacking from H&M 4's CHM import. Hi Phil, You are treading on a delicate subject! I have been banging on about this since the ver...

Hi Tim, We found this one two days ago, it also affects XML import. You might have warned us! :( I have just created a page containing 42 toggles and wrecked them all by making a small change to the XML. I can find no way back -- I have to delete them all and re-insert them. Fortunately I can copy/p...

Toggle bug?

Toggle bug?: Can anyone confirm this (I have a nagging feeling I'm missing something obvious :? ) ? 1. Create a topic with some toggles. 2. Swap to the XML view. 3. Make a small editing change (anywhere, not necessarily in a toggle). 4. Swap back to the editor view. 5. Compile to Browser Help. 6. No...
