Re: Search path to Xplains
Hi Carol Ann, This interim update of version 9.4.2 will solve this problem: https://www.helpandmanual.com/download/help-and-manual-setup-v942.exe Important: You must delete ALL files and subfolders in the WebHelp folder, locally and on your web server, before applying this. Otherwise the old files w...

Re: Search path to Xplains
Hi Carol,
Update: I've done some testing on this and the search is actually returning results to the Xplain subfolder, and this is having an unwanted effect in this particular group of skins. We'll have to look into improving this.

Re: Search path to Xplains
Yes, of course. But it's a little odd that Xplains are being included in the search results. Their WebHelp subfolder should be automatically excluded in the current version of Help+Manual.

We're excited — very! — to announce the release of SnipSVG, our very cool, very new replacement for Impict and TNT. And it's completely free, for both Windows and macOS. Learn all about it and get the download link in this news blog post here: https://www.helpandmanual.com/news/2024/02/get-a-picture...

Re: Search path to Xplains
OK. Are you using the full version of Zoom instead of the embedded version in Help+Manual?

Re: Search path to Xplains
Hi Carol,
The search should actually not look in Xplains at all, because they are not searchable. What version of Help+Manual and your WebHelp skin are you using?

Re: Crash/hang-up on second monitor
Hi John, If you get a bug report prompt when this happens it would be very helpful if you could send it. That would make it possible to focus in on what is actually happening here. The problem, however, will be the number of slides in your project. Currently, an Xplain is a single HTML page and ALL ...

Re: Crash/hang-up on second monitor
Hi John, I've never seen this and my own desktop setup is effectively the same as yours, but the other way round: I have a 4K primary monitor and a legacy secondary monitor, Windows 10. I use HelpXplain almost exclusively on the lower-resolution secondary monitor and never have problems. However, I ...

Re: Is there a way to search for (and remove) all manual page breaks?
Hi Stefanie, You can't do this from within Help+Manual itself, but it's very easy to do on the XML topic files using any editor that can search and replace in multiple files, like the excellent free Notepad++. To do this, your project has to be saved in the uncompressed HMXP format, and if you are s...

Re: Best practices for linking to external tools
just doing exec:c:\mbs\exewin1\helpdxf.exe and leaving the pa1.dxf alone? That is what the Execution Parameters: field is for. We also see that ewriter does not like embedded topics. What do you mean by "embedded topics"? Guess your forum page does not like my zip file. Uploading somethin...

Re: Best practices for linking to external tools
We created a test from one of our projects and the Hyperlink to launch our program doesn't appear to be working. It works when the "Test" button is clicked. However, when run thru the eWriter Viewer (4.0.0.0 for windows 64 bit), clicking the link does nothing. See attached image File_Link...

Re: Best practices for linking to external tools
Hi "321", It is rather surprising that you have been able to start external applications from your CHM files in Windows versions before 11 as well, as starting programs from CHM links has been completely blocked since Windows XP SP2. I am guessing that you are not starting the EXE of the p...

Re: Editing a WebHelp skin:
Hi Tansy, Instead of deleting things, which can cause errors, it is better to just prevent it from being displayed and activated. Edit the skin (not your project!) in Help+Manual and go down to Configuration > Publishing > WebHelp > Layout. In the code editor, locate this block of code further down:...
