Maria,

Have you updated to the latest build from the EC Software website (4.2, Build 1062, check this with About... in the Help menu)? Some issues with UTF-8 in Eastern European languages and Russian were recently corrected.

Rossco, Please check out the instructions in the help in Basic Working Procedures > Working with Tables , in particular the chapter Controlling column widths . It is very important to understand the dynamic relationships between fixed and dynamic columns and the width setting that you choose for the...

Jerry, Glad to hear it worked for you, thanks for the feedback! Don't forget to try the new Replace Styles function in the Format menu to get your formatted text integrated in a Help & Manual stylesheet. This will save you a lot of work as you move forward and want to make formatting changes in ...

Dean, Now that you mention it, I tried using the Impict mask and noticed the same gray problem. It turned out that I prefered the unmasked image, so I didn't follow up on the grayness. You say that you are manually changing the RGB settings of the mask area from 254 to 255 - that seems to indicate t...

Jeff,

Are the affected images scaled in Help & Manual? If they are, try a test with a couple of unscaled images to see if you get the same result (just trying to narrow down the possible locations of the error).

Simon, This change was added in the current 1062 build of 4.2, released on Monday. It is necessary for compatibility with Windows Vista, which requires explicit setting of file associations on installation. I'm not entirely sure what has happened in Dean's case. However, you should really only exper...

To the best of my knowledge the Microsoft HTML Help viewer does not have an expand all option for the TOC. If it does, it is something that you would have to access via the call to the help from your application, not within Help & Manual, but I have never heard of it to date.

Dean, If you right-click on a key folder in RegEdit and then select Permissions... you should see which users have permissions for that key. It's quite possible that the permissions are assigned to a user group rather than a specific user. Also, it's possible that even if the permissions are assigne...

Jeff,

How many colors does the BMP in your project have? This happens sometimes in PDFs when the number of colors is not high enough, then white gets mapped to off-white when you print. I think the only solution is to increase the number of colors.

Hi Dean, I was waiting for this one... :) This is actually not Help & Manual's fault, it is because of the moronic way that Windows handles user rights. Basically what has happened is that you once installed Help & Manual under another user account. As a result, these keys have already been ...

Yes, currently you must set UTF-8 and Unicode. However, the developers are working on a fix for this problem and an update should be coming out in the course of the week. 8)

Tom, You are probably using a Unix/Linux server. Currently there is a small bug which prevents image filenames containing upper case characters from being lower-cased properly when you compile your project. This only affects images that you have zoomed (resized) in Help & Manual. You can correct...

Paul, It's not possible to comment accurately without more information. However, it looks as though you are using two consecutive toggle links to toggle tables that are further down the page, so that the references of the toggle links are "crossing". If this is the case it is a sure recipe...
