We are developing now in Cold Fusion, which is displayed through HTML files. The programmer is able to run my .chm file through a standard anchor: <a href="helpfile.chm">Click here</a> however, when the chm opens, it acts as if it is being read over a network: the TOC is visible but all to...

That was it all right. And now I feel foolish because I remember reading about the problem somewhere in the documentation or on this forum, and even considering how it would affect our implementation of .chm files on our customer sites.

1000 thanks.

I removed the hyphens from file name and project title, but same results.

This is an evaluation version that had expired but was then extended for another two weeks - could that have something to do with it?

All Topics are broken links in chm

I created a new, test project, using the default set of topics suggested by the new project wizard. I put some text on all the topics and also added topic context numbers. I didn't change the topic IDs or headings. I didn't add any new topics. In the final topic (Chapter 2 > Sub chapter 2.1 > New to...

Tim created a brief tutorial about this topic in the tutorial section just a few days ago. It doesn't provide any other solution, but it does put the issue of imported styles into a clear outline.

You are absolutely right that "em" and "en" are the original terms, and are still technically correct. (MS Word, in fact, uses em and en in the Insert Symbol function.) Using M and N is a rule of thumb I picked up somewhere to give an idea of the display width. I didn't realize i...

You're not alone, Van. I only know because I got involved in composition and typography in one of my past careers and still do it occasionally. The M-dash is a longer dash that is supposed to be the width of the capital letter M. On a mac, you can type it with Shift-Option-Hyphen (on the alpha keybo...

In H&M4, when I request an interactive PDF at compile time, the TOC in my PDFs is hyperlinked, but the Index is not. Adding the Index links would be a welcome addition. Is there a way to turn this on that I have overlooked?

The issue of the dash is more a matter of typography. In the US, folks use the M-dash with no separation: "...this manual is bunk--but it's good bunk!" (replace the double-dash with an M-dash). In the UK (and probably elsewhere), folks use the n-dash with separation: "...this manual i...

I have used Camtasia Studio by Tech Smith (www.techsmith.com). I didn't research tools - this one was here when I was hired - however I have been able to turn out some reasonably decent avi-based demos with it. It has screen capture and voice dubbing tools, along with video editing ability and ways ...

Back to the original question (not that I mind a little Microsoft bashing now and again), the reason "invoke" sounds odd is because the original and still number one meaning relates to dieties: To call on (a higher power) for help or inspiration. (This from the American Heritage Dictionary...

If you are getting two different fonts and sizes in a paragraph this means that you have applied two different fonts and sizes. Yes, that appears to be the case, though it happened during the conversion process. The converted text had the font attributes of the original with no style assigned. When...

You have probably defined the line as transparent instead of black. Nope. The fill is defined as white and not transparent, while the frame is defined as black, which seems to be what matters for a line (as opposed to a rectangle). I checked it again to be sure. When I copy this line and then try t...

More on the line

Regarding the line: I had been trying to copy an existing line and paste it into the band. It was the pasted line that kept hiding behind the band. Mea Culpa. When I created a new line (select object tool, click in band, set properties), it appeared in the band. However, it changed the size of the h...
