H&M project to Android and Apple / ios / iTunes app

Unread post by Marc Beneteau »

I am looking to publish my help project (http://wpencyclopedia.com) as an Android app and also to the Apple / iTunes store. There is a development framework called "Phonegap" http://phonegap.com/ that seems like this would be a piece-of-cake (possibly only minor modifications to the skin file required, then compile with Phonegap and the deed is done).
If you are interested in this, please comment here to encourage me (I will make a FAQ about this if we have success).
If you have other directions for me to explore, please also post here also as I know nothing about these things
thanks
Marc

Quick update. I published my H&M project to "phone_Standard.hmskin" (version 2.2), uploaded the HTML output zipfile to Phonegap's cloud app (uses github) https://build.phonegap.com/people/sign_up and compiled into a working Android .apk
Apple and Windows apps included as well (but not tested)
Looks like the job the is done (other than for the free/paid app details and basic configuration parameter e.g. app name etc).
THIS IS INCREDIBLE

oh -- forgot to mention the phonegap github compiles the Android apk just fine but generates errors for iOS app. I think it would require minor changes, i will get a list from my developer when he's done. Here he is (name is Durgesh)

I have published 3 Android apps from H&M projects. See

https://play.google.com/store/search?q= ... apps&hl=en

These were published to phone_Standard.hmskin, added light coding (my developer Durgesh above has the details), and built myself with phonegap cloud compiler. iOS apps work fine too.

This is beyond cool... thanks to Alexander and the team

The same build goes to EPUB and from there to Kindle, Lulu / Smashwords (and from there to iBookstore and Nook). Details here:

Hi Marc,

A related heads-up: The Premium Pack 2.3 update that is just getting ready to go online adds Android and Windows Touch compatibility to the WebHelp and Dual-Mode Classic skins. The old Dual-Mode skins are not quite as robust here, but the WebHelp skins are now fully compatible with current Android tablets and phones with fast touch resonse and rotation support (better on tablets and larger phones, of course) and with Windows 8 tablets like the Surface and similar devices. They will even work on older Android devices back to 2.3.6 Gingerbread provided that either Firefox or Opera for Android are used (the stock Android web browsers on the older Android devices are a disaster and should be avoided). On Windows the performance is much better on Windows 8.1, because it brings radically improved support for touch and mobile devices. (Windows 8.0 on the Surface devices doesn't even have rotation events, which seems a very odd omission on a mobile device...)
